PEARL iZUMi  Elite Gel Cycling Gloves - Men's

These gloves are advertised as having GEL padding but they have none. They even have "GEL" printed on the palm, but there is none. It's as if the Gel pockets were sewn shut before the Gel pad was inserted. These gloves were way to expensive for such a charade. I now insert a piece of 3/8" foam under the glove on my palm to achieve some padding. That maoification works OK, but I could have done that with a pair of $5 gardening gloves. If a padded glove is what you want ... you WILL NOT be satisfied with these gloves

This is my third pair of Pearl Izumi Elite gel cycling gloves. PI changed the design, and I don't like it as much as the old design. As shown in the pics, the new design comes further down the wrist (yellow glove). The strap for the hook and loop fastener does not seem as substantial on the new ones. The gel pads are not as thick, but that might be a good thing. They are good gloves, just not as good as the old design.

whoops, I should have checked the reviews. I bought these because of the brand name. These are flimsy pieces of junk, and the sizing is WAY off. The XL that I received was so difficult to get my hand into, that I assumed they accidentally sent me the wrong size. I double checked and the tag says XL. All I can say is wow. What a waste of money

I have bought several of these gloves over the years and had really good luck with them. I used one pair that I bought in 2015 for two very long tours that totaled over 3,000 miles. Those gloves held up great. These new ones are much lower quality and, for some reason, my smaller. The velcro strap is about 1/4 the amount of velcro than used in the past. The glove material itself is so much more thin on the newer ones that you can actually see your skin through it. I wouldn't even consider the padding on the palm padding. It's like it's not even there. Needless to say I returned these and switched to a different brand.

Bought these to replace the exact same product from a few years ago. Gel pads are much thinner and smaller. Construction is flimsy and lighter than previous product. Also, if you are shopping for women’s bike gloves, as I was, and you can wear a men’s size, there was significantly more padding in the men’s version when I purchased the original gloves. Of course, there was no difference in the price.

The gloves fit my hand well, and were comfortable during rides. It took some getting used to seeing the yellow backing when I ride, but I like the added visual when signaling. The only drawback is the wrist closure. I find most of the PI gloves that I have owned are a bit short to fully close, but have stayed closed during rides. The closure on these seem shorter and would open and flap when riding. The design of those gloves is such that they pull on and stay in place without the closure. I removed the closure strap (cut off) and the hook velcro (carefully and painstakingly using a seam ripper) from the gloves with no issues in fit or function.

I have a 4-year-old version of these gloves. Yhey cost $22 or $24. They have been great gloves. Superb gel padding, durable over at least 3000 miles and many washings. The finger openings are starting to fray a bit, and my girlfriend says they smell funky, so I went online to order a new pair. I saw several negative reviews, so I stopped by my local REI to check out the gloves. It is true, the gel "padding" on this newer version is ridiculous. It is much thinner and stiffly un-gel-like, compared to my older gloves that have 1000 hour on them. This seems like an example of cynical corporate greed. The price has gone from $22 to $38, while the quality has gone way down. Shame on Pearl iZumi.

I'm returning these gloves without being able to take them on a ride as the strap began tearing away from the glove after putting them on once. Positives: Nice and thin, with just the right amount of cushion, finger holes not too tight. Negatives: The strap is very cheaply constructed, basically, a thin strip of single-layer cloth with a bit of velcro on one side. Further, it's attached to the main glove by maybe 5 stitches. I put the gloves on once and the left-hand strap separated from the glove halfway through the stitches. My full-finger Izumis are great, lasting me over two years and many, many commuter and long-distance road miles. You can do better than Elite Gels for warm-weather riding in the same range.

I purchased these in the store and that is a good thing. They do run small and according to the size chart I should wear a Large, but they are too small as suppected. The XL fits me well an are still a little tight, which is how I like them. The "Gel" feels like solid rubber and the first several rides (20-30 miles) my hands in my palms were sore. I use my other older gloves with real gel and pittock leather (which are not made anymore) for my longer rides. My handlebars have over sized gel tape for the gavel an another on my road bike and still caused sore hands. Over time either the gloves have got softer or my hands have gotten tougher.

They're great but with the light cloth it can be really cold on windy days so I would get a pair of full finger ones if its cold all the time where you live. I just bought a pair that was on sale because of this. I personally enjoy the booger cloth on the back of them because its wicked windy where I live and I cry a lot because of all the depressing things I think about on my rides so these are perfect. I will say the gel is a little sparse but they're made of some pretty sturdy material and if you adjust your grip while you ride and stay light - your hands wont go numb. I definitely would buy them again...
