These are my first pair of hiking shoes. I like that they don’t look like a hiking shoe. First hike I did was 4 miles, they seem to be ok. Feet cramped up a little. I took them out again for a 10 mile hike. Towards the end of 3 miles, my feet were hurting. I did another 5 mile hike and the shoe was rubbing against my heel. Good thing I had band aids. The shoe is stiff and needs to be broken in. The insoles don’t have any cushions. You’d think with spending this amount of money for a hiking shoes it would have that. I do like the fact that you don’t have to lace up the shoes. You pull the string and the shoe is snug. They stay snug throughout your hike. I’ve bought some thick hiking socks and will be replacing the insoles. I’m hoping that that will make a difference.
My partner was always a person to wear an outdoor pursuits brand aimed specifically at an hiking, running, or walking. Paying pretty high prices for their famed quality, comfort and durability. I decided to switch her footwear snobbery and bought her the Terrex Swift R2 trainers. I’ve got 2 pairs and love them. So when she revived them she was extremely pleased with the style. Brownie point for me as I chose them. She tried them on and couldn’t believe the comfort and how sturdy they were. She was impressed and the other brand has now lost its place on the podium. Basically if you pick the right style you’ll not be disappointed on their quality, build or performance.
I have 3 pair and just bought another in a 1/2 size larger to accommodate a heavier sock. Taking these to Scotland. The fit on these shoes is perfect. They are form fitting which makes them not"bulky". Being form fitting can sometimes make shoes too narrow but the toe box has been left wide enough so as not to pinch. The gortex is great for keeping dry and it is also fabulous in dry cold windy conditions not allowing the air to come through to chill the fore foot. Traction is unbeatable and the durability is unsurpassible. I would love a warning if you ever decide to stop making these shoes! Just don't!
I need a shoe that I can run in, and yet also take on diverse terrain. Adidas is the only brand I've found with a toe box that fits my feet. Most of the others I've tried are too wide in the heel if they fit my toes, but this one is perfect there. I love the Goretex because my trail takes me through shallow water twice and I can forget about getting wet feet and blisters because of that. My only complaint is that they're not very flexible in the soles, and so are more like a hiking shoe than a running shoe. But the compromise is acceptable because everything else is perfect in this shoe.
Great for fasting hiking in the Sierra Nevada. I wore them two years on the JMT/PCT and would take them again and again. Pros: Lightweight Boot-like protection in all areas (underfoot, side/side, toe area, etc.) Excellent traction, even in wet Durable outsole, even on abrasive granite Compatible with normal gaiters that loop under the outsole (unlike most running shoes) Good energy transfer (helps you hike fast with less energy) Good stability for heavier persons or with backpack Waterproof works great (keeps feet warm and dry and breathes well) Good toe room, which allows feet to splay naturally (shoe fits my foot very well with no rub) Laces stay tied! Good for at least 500 miles of heavy use Cons: Poor cushioning and poor shock absorption Not for running, only fast walking (because of lack of cushioning and shock absorption) More fatigue on joints (because of lack of shock absorption) No ankle stability (for those who need this) Upper is a little stiff and prone to abrasive wear Laces can become stiff and difficult to adjust once soiled (helps them stay in place though) Laces a little tricky to customize/shorten if needed (instructions provided though)
I bought this pair of shoe for my wife. I bought a pair of the same shoe and knew she needed a pair. We are outdoors people. The durability of the shoe is wonderful and traction is Incomparable to any other shoe.
These are so comfortable a perfect fit. Test drive them on a 5 mile hike and feet were well protected and blister free. They also look great intact ordered a similar pair for my husband straight away!!
Recently went on several hikes Sedona Page and Grand Canyon. These were so comfortable and helped keep my feet dry and warm and made it through the mud rocks and even ice along the way
Well happy with the purchase as heading to lakes hiking for a week
Manufacturer description is very accurate - they are comfortable and lightweight. The grip is incredible, my partner has Sorrels and the Terrex definitely performed better in wet weather. Chasing a toddler near the sea also meant testing how waterproof they are, and I must say I was very impressed. They are also breathable, after 6 mile hike I had no sweaty patches on my socks. The only issue I was having was the laces, it does take practice if you’ve never had these before but now I feel like I don’t want the conventional laces ever again.
