Carry-on travel needs met with this pack!

My first Cotopaxi product and I can say I absolutely love this pack! I have been looking for the perfect travel backpack that is big enough to fit everything I need yet small enough to fit underneath the seat on an airplane. The pack fits my 5'4" frame perfectly. The straps are comfortable, adjustable, packable for checked luggage and the hip belt completely detaches also (if you want to check it). I just returned from a 5 week trip through Sri Lanka and India and I had plenty of space for my packing cubes (REI Co-op expandable packing cube set), 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair slippers, 2 toiletry kits, make-up kit (small), travel towel, 3 books and LOTS of souvenirs. This thing was stuffed by the end of the trip and weight was around 30 lbs. Excellent quality zippers, so no fear of busting open. Great pack!

Not meant for people with breasts

Wow, this did NOT work with my body. I'm a small woman (5'2", 105 lbs) with a short torso and the shape and placement of the straps cut right into my chest in a way that was strange and painful. Mind you, my chest is not large. It's on the smaller side. But no amount of adjusting would fix the bad fit. Maybe if the straps had load lifter straps at the top that would have helped, but as it is this bag is unusable for me. I'm returning it. If you share my measurements, take note.

An excellent backpack with great features

I bought this backpack because of the excellent review it had in a New York Times article. I had been using an alpine-style pack for my travels but wanted something with internal storage compartments rather than just one big compartment. I took this pack on a five-country trip in Scadinavia and England. I had to take warm clothes and raingear for this trip and I wasn't sure I'd have enough space, but it turned out to be exactly what I needed. I quickly decided how I wanted to use the internal compartments and found the zip-open lie-down-flat design great in hotel rooms (albeit with the bag on the floor usually). I removed the waist band for this trip as I was not doing any real hiking except between planes, trains, and busses. The padded shoulder straps are very good and even fully loaded, the pack is comfortable when the chest strap is clipped. No need for the wast band at all on short hauls. I also made use of the two quick access side zippers. One was handy for occasional storage of my laptop, and the other for easy access to my rain shell.

Perfect travel backpack system.

This backpack was ideal for our trip across China. We did a 10 day four locations trip. Being a large man I was concerned it would fit my clothes and all the things needed for travel. But I was pleasantly surprised. We used suited nomad compression sacks and everything fit wonderfully. I’m 6’3” wear XL shirts L pants. I was able to pack 6 pants, 7 tops, 7 pairs of socks, sandals and hiking shoes, the 18L bag, full toiletries, outlet converter, sleeping mat, and camp towel. We felt these packs were ideal for carry-on bags and they were plenary comfy to wear while we walked to our hotel/hostels and to and from public transit. We used carabiners to attach our batac packs to our larger packs but we found that it would be better to have just the one pack when traveling. Overall these were comfy when fully loaded. Held everything we needed. And looked good while we did it. The bags held up great through two international flights with layovers, two regional flights, one overnight train, and many taxi/bus/train rides. I Highly recommend this pack for the traveler who doesn’t want to deal with baggage claim or lost luggage, and who wants to move quickly through airports and public transit.

Best traveling bag for Spirit airlines

I bought this bag because I was taking a trip through Spirit airlines. If you know, Spirit airlines only allows a personal bag on for free. I saw the measurements online for this bag and it was perfect. I was able to pack a weeks worth of clothes, shoes, and other beauty products and essentials. This bag fits so much and it keeps everything organized with its built in dividers. I am so glad I decided to spend the money and get this bag because it is true my worth every penny. Hands down the best travel bag for when you don’t want to pay for a carryon.

Allpa 35L Travel Pack

Absolutely love the color combo! It's everything I could hope for in a travel backpack since I'm a heavy packer and it's basically a suitcase. Love all the adjustable straps and padding as well, completely customizable for everyone!

All the colors!

Got this travel pack as a surprise for my girlfriend, who is a classic over-packer, and she is thrilled. The Allpa is amazingly strong feeling, which simultaneously being very light. So much space! And it comes with many well thought out features, like the rain cover and the handles. Perfect pack. The big winner of the set, however, was the Batac Del Dia daypack -- the features on this bag are wonderful, and she packs it full of everything she can possibly fit inside, and it still performs amazingly well. It's by far her favorite day pack. Even packed full, it feels strong and light. And it has all the colors... I can't recommend this enough.

tore in two places during first use

My allpa tore after it's first use as carry on-luggage for a domestic flight. I thought it was a fluke until it tore on my return flight as well. Really bummed. First and last Cotopaxi product I will buy.

Great time in Europe with the Allpa!

Last year, my family toured in Europe. We had three of the Allpa travel packs. This year we toured again and we had five! Very comfortable and the right size. We had a couple 42 L and the rest were 35 L. So much easier bouncing from planes and trains to cars as well as boats, with the travel pack rather than dragging luggage. Plenty of space for everything you need and more. The quick throw on rain cover is also a plus when you’re traveling. We are big fans of the Allpa travel pack!

35L pack

After much debate and denial, I finally replaced a bag I had had for 15 years with the Cotopaxi 35L. After 4 days in Europe, I’m already LOVING my choice! It’s decivibg/ it holds way more than I expected. And the front pocket is big enough for all my goodies I could need accessible on a flight. The bag fits under my seat. The only downside is no water bottle holder on the outside. Wish that was built in.
