GT-1000 pales in comparison to the Gel-Venture

I thought I would try out the newest version of the GT-1000 to see if it improved over the 8 iteration. Sadly, it has not. My favorite athletic shoe of all time used to be the GT-1000 or GT-2000, but I recently switched to the Gel-Venture series due to its perfect fit and excellent support and wear factors. I have less than 500 miles on the GT-1000 and it's worn out. I continue to wear my Gel-Venture 6 and it has close to 1200 miles on it and it still supports and though the heel is worn smooth, it still rebounds beautifully. I average around 100 miles a week and the G-V series has never succumbed to my mileage. I am sad to say that the newest version of the GT-1000 does not hold up.

Only shoes I will ever buy!

The first time I wore them was on the plane to San Diego and the next day was spent at Disneyland for over 12 hours in the park and they were awesome. No blisters! I am a retired US Navy Deep Sea Diver and I was an Instructor for 3 years running the students at least 8 miles 5 days a week in the soft sand on the beach at Coronado California Dive School. I was also running half marathons once a month. Best shoes I have ever had are Asics and I have been buying them since they were Tigers!

Don't buy to play tennis or basketball in

Fit is true to size of previous GT 1000, GT 2000 and Gel Keyanos. I pronate and have flatter arches and these shoes are supportive but not painful to wear all day. Don't buy these for tennis or basketball. If you tried to play sports that involve cutting side to side you'll tear a hole on the sides of toe box. These shoes are for running or walking in forward or backward planes. Not enough lateral support near the toes for much else

They feel amazing under my feet

I took a break from wearing ASICS as my walking and running shoes and when it came time to by a new pair I decided to go back to the brand and am very happy I did. The comfort and arch support in these shoes are terrific. I tried them at the same time as the GT-2000s and ended up liking these better as they felt comfortable under all parts of my feet where as the GT-2000 seemed more heavily padded towards the back of the shoe.

better than expected

I was very suprised how comfortable shoes are. Although we rank GT 1000 in lower price rang, I can say that you get great shoes for this price. The updated upper mesh that is now more breathable and dries quickly. Seamless mesh is nicely flexible and gives a sense of stability. I recommended GT 1000 9 to lighter or medium heavy runners with overpronation and who looking for stable shoes.

Better than Foundation 13

I’m 6’1 240lbs, severe over pronator. I run 30-40 miles per week. I love Asics Foundations. When they were discontinued this past summer. I tried Topos for 400 miserable miles. I am so happy to be back in Asics. These GT 1000 9 are better in every way than the Foundations or Topos. They are lighter, more stable, have more cushion, look better, and are even less expensive.

Comfy shoes! Go USA!

Got this for my (giant) 13 yo nephew on his birthday, and he REALLY likes them! He told me they were very comfortable, and helps that I looked at his arches (he has none) before deciding on these. Also a big plus on the USA patriotic color scheme. Just wish it was made in USA. But overall, a great product, and my nephew has been inducted into the family of Asics wearers.

So glad I found these.

The GT- 1000 9 Is very supportive. I have a flat foot and the arch support works very good with my stride. I put arch supports in them. I do not run anymore. However, I like these so much that my original pair (2 months old), I have turned into my yardwork shoes. The other pair I use as office shoes. So comfortable. Big fan of the Duomax arch system.

Tightness

while not as tight as the other 4E Asics models I tried( GT-2000 8, GT-2000 9), it is still nowhere near as wide and comfortable as your 4E models from 3-4 years ago. I can wear them about a half hour before I have to take them of. Needless to say the search is still on to other brands. Maybe if enough people complain they will return to the width of old.
