Good but expensive
Good foot print, only used a few times, doesnt really add that much weight for my purposes. I wish it had a colorncoded corner since it is not rectangular, the little loop hooks come loose making srt up in the darkndifficult. I have other rectangular tent foot prints with color coded corners that really dont need it but it does give quick reference point for quick set up. i ended up putting a small zip tie on one corner. I fold tent in thirds with foot print on thr outside so any moisture stays on the outside before packing in the bag so that it will kind of be in the right direction for next aet up. Biggest con is that it is so dang expensive.
Not worth even half the price.
I really wanted to find a third party footprint because the price of this thing is just ridiculous. I tired a few others and wasn't able to find the perfect fit, so I got suckered into buying this one. I had a gift card, I thought this would "protect the investment" on the tent, and be just the right fit because it's the official footprint made for the specific tent. I was really disappointed. The little arms with the toggles seem too long and don't create any tension, so the footprint comes unhooked, kind of flops around, and just folds over itself. In short, there are no benefits to buying the official footprint for this tent. I'm disappointed to write this review because I normally love REI and their products. Do not buy this product; just use a trash bag, buy a Tyvek one, or a third party one off of amazon with approximately the same dimensions for a quarter of the price.
Great once you can figure out how to set it up.
I would have given this a 5 but I could not figure out where the footprint connected to the tent. I did figure it out on the second try. I turned the tent down side up. With the bottom facing up, I lined up the tent and footprint, I hooked the footprints plastic tabs just right in the loop of the tents gray tie strings, and even though there was some slack and it appeared incorrect, it actually became strong and held together very well. With all four corners secure, I turned the tent over and the two stayed together. I do recommend this product, but I would also recommend practicing setting the tent and footprint up before taking it into the woods. Side note: The tent seems great, it set up well, was very roomy, and looks like it will manage moisture pretty good given the amount of air flow you. Disclaimer: I have only set these products up, I have not taken them into the woods yet...I will update the review once I give it a test run.
Works, but nothing special
The toggles do not stay in the corner loops of the tent; because they are flat sewn, the toggle just slips out with minimal tension, but sometimes it holds if you get it just right. For the high cost, I would have hoped for color coded attachments, since the head and foot are different widths it is tough to figure it out at night. And $3 dollars worth of fabric, you're probably better off just making one yourself.
Perfect for sleeping in an airport
Though I do own the Flash Air tent, I bought this to put in my carryon as insurance against airport chaos. If you travel a lot the time will come when you WILL end up sleeping on an airport floor, and it is much nicer to sleep on top of this than on the stanky carpet (bring a Sea to Summit inflatable pillow, an eye mask, and ear plugs, and thank me later). This footprint is so lightweight that you'll barely notice it in your bag. You'll find lots of uses for it in your travels - laying out your items in questionable hostels, a layer between you and wet grass for an impromptu park picnic, and probably even a quick shelter in a rain shower (though I haven't tried it for that).
