A strong compact pack with amazing storage
This is an amazing pack, it can be loaded up way beyond 16 litres. 15inch MacBook Pro 2018 model fits perfectly with space to spare. Can easily throw your water bottle in the front compartment along with your gym clothes. The material feels amazing. The straps have great comfort and make the carry feel light. The hand strap has a soft to tough but extremely durable feel. It's a great pack you won't be disappointed.
Great everyday backpack
Took this backpack to Mount Rainier as an everyday hiker bag and it was great! Lightweight and outside shell was well protected from the random showers throughout the day, was not worried about the rain at all when wearing this pack. A couple things I did notice was firstly, the outside is easy to scratch and leave a mark especially when impacted against rocks or branches. Secondly, the bag starting from the bottom is quite narrow and trying to balance items being packed, it's difficult to have items weight balanced or difficult to reach the bottom items. Overall quite comfortable with the padded straps and Expanse colour really stands out and had a lot of attraction from it that weekend.
Sleek
Bought it as a travel backpack. Very sleek. Take it out of the package, stuff it with things, in the form you want it, and leave it for a while. Comes shipped all out of whack. I put several small fleece blankets in there with some stress balls to give it shape and get the creases out of it. Laptop sleeve holds my tablet. Top pocket holds my sunglass case easily. Very well made. Love the heavy material. Stiff at first. I can see where the "rubberized" zippers are waterproof, but I havent tested them. I love iy so far. Remeber it is 16L l, so it isnt a horse of a pack.
Excellent Commuter/Office Daypack
I bought the Granville 16 Zip Backpack to function as a work/office pack. I have grown fond of packs without hipbelts, so the Granville comes through here. The chest strap works well, providing a snug feel when walking. The internal sleeve for my laptop is well padded and offers a tight fit. The two internal zipper pockets are well designed. The three outer zippers are well placed. I have found the right-side zipper to be ingenuous. It allows access without opening the pack from the top, and is the perfect storage space for laptop accessories. While the Granville 16 is small, it has a deceptive ability to expand without looking stretched.
Great versatile pack for EDC or daytrips
Decided to pull the trigger on the Granville 16 despite surprisingly low rating and have not been disappointed. Aesthetic is sleek and understated at a more reasonable price point than its Veilance big brother. The 16L capacity is deceptive given the design choice for open space vs organizational features. I prefer the 'open design' concept, but if you're looking for more organizational features, YMMV. A number of reviews highlight its water resistance as lacking and to be honest, I think the issue is theirs. I've used this numerous times in rainy conditions with next to 0 moisture making it onto pack contents. Nothing short of a pack with aquaguard zips is going to be truly waterproof so expecting otherwise is ridiculous. That said, I haven't had any issues with leakage in several hikes in heavy rain.
Beautful but not very practical
Such a desirable bag - in 'Serene' it is a thing of beauty. But I returned it. Not enough organization - really missed the front stash pocket for access to slightly bigger items (jacket, sunglasses, phone, etc.) Internal zip mesh pocket would be more use on the front side of the interior, and the quick access pocket on the lid blocks packing and unpacking if its full (which it will be, if you want anything quick access.) The zips are stiff - OK, they are watertight - but it makes it all the more of a chore to get into it for things on the go. Probably wouldn't change the zips, but its worth noting. Bring back the front stash pocket!
Exactly what I needed for daily life/trips
I really really love my backpack. I'm super glad I went with it. I want to give it 1 less star cause making this decision required so much research that I wish it would have been simple, amongst other things. The biggest issue was I could see anything about the inside of the bag. I had to go through so many different yt videos to get a clearer view of the inside. This has happened to other products as well from Arcteryx. I'm pretty annoyed about that. No regrets though. I love the zipper going all the way down on both sides, it allows me to open all the way if needed. I love my laptop sleeve, i love the pocket on the inside and the one outside. I do wish there was more pockets as I have a lot of small things, and what can't go in the pockets means it's at the bottom of the bag. Which is fine, but it's a lot of deep digging. ie. my portable battery charger. I'm not sure how they would fix this, but I'd be curious to see if there's something you guys could do without compromising the waterproofing aspect. I love that it's waterproof and so far it's served me very well on the multiple day trips/airport/forest trips i've done. It's been so sturdy so far, and I've been able to pack it to the brim or very little. I thought I would be more annoyed with the deep pocket and the pockets, but for everyday use it's great. For my height at 5'2 as a woman it's also been serving me super well.
Great weather-resistant bag for carrying laptop
The size of this backpack is perfect for an everyday bag to carry my laptop and other work items. I like that the laptop sleeve has a stretchy mesh along the sides, so that it provides snug support for my laptop without putting too much pressure on it. The fact that it's highly weather-resistant is the best feature—I don't have to worry about my items getting wet or fumble with a rain cover if I get caught in some weather on my commute. The weather-resistant material on the outside and inside is also very easy to wipe clean. The only thing I wish this backpack had was a pocket for a waterbottle or mug, but the sleek profile is nice.
Ideal Day Pack
Fits 15.4” MacBook Pro or smaller laptops in flexible laptop sleeve. Behind the laptop sleeve is a second, more narrow sleeve that will fit a 10.5” laptop, but a zipper slider inside the sleeve may scratch anything you put in there. Side pocket nicely holds spare clothing, e.g. my Zeta FL Jacket, Zeta SL Pants, fleece cap and gloves. Main compartment holds other daily essentials, bag uses the 16L capacity very well In summary a really nice bag, will second as a go bag packed in a larger piece of luggage or as a carry on when traveling.
Perfect Carry Backpack!
I've used this backpack as a daily and travel use for about a month now. It fits all the uses I've been in search for - for a long time. The quick access pocket on top is very useful and can fit more than just sun glasses. The zippers may not glide as easy when using one hand, but I like that as the bag and zippers are more sturdy. The bag is not too big and not too small, easily fits my 14 inch laptop plus another bigger one in the main compartment if needed along with a night of clothes. Love the side zipper space which is also accessible from the inside main compartment. Wonderful design, sits comfortable on my back, and very useful day to day!
