Love it but unraveled
I was very happy with my purchase once it arrived. It’s very comfortable and I love that you can squish it down to pack in your suitcase. However, after wearing it only a handful of times, it started to unravel or split at the brim of the hat. Very disappointing.
Fantastic hat!
This is my favorite hat. The size is perfect - blocks enough sun out, it’s feminine and beautiful, it won’t fly away, it keeps its shape. I got a blue one and need to buy another one because I seem to have lost it. And in addition it makes a great golfing hat too!
This hat fell apart immediately.
I have always been very impressed with the quality for price from Columbia. Until this hat. I purposefully wore it and didn’t pack it in my bag because I didn’t want it to be misshapen. Nevertheless it fell apart when I picked it up to wear it for some reason. Only the second time I attempted to wear it. I am extremely disappointed. Also for the record it runs a little large.
Newer version misses the mark
I bought this hat 4 years ago and LOVED it! I wore it till it was floppy and on its last breath! I was so excited to see they still sold it so purchased another online. This version is not the same. The material feels more like straw (the first was was a softer, more attractive material.) The S/M is also quite large. It fits me but I have a large head! I feel bad for women with smaller heads cause they would drown in it! The S/M in the original was much more snug but stretched slightly over time which was perfect for me. I am going to give this hat a chance as I am heading on a trip in a couple of days and need good sun protection but I won’t have as much pep in my step as I did 4 years ago!
Fell apart after a few uses
I wore this a handful of times to the pool, and one day I put it on and the whole top of the hat popped off and my head poked through! I was shocked. Don’t waste your money
Falling apart at the seams
Not packable at all. Folded it exactly the way pictured for my trip and it was ripped as soon as it unfolded.

Best hat ever
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this hat for three years now and it is still in perfect condition. I use it at least three times a week. I have gotten it completely submerged in the pool river and beach water several times and each time it dries completely normal. It’s truly packable, I often shove it into my day pack or carry on and it always bounces right back. The chin strap is strong enough to hold that hat on during wild boat rides. It also provides fantastic sun protection. I never put sunscreen on my face or neck when I wear this hat and I’ve never gotten a sunburn. I love love love this hat and can’t recommend it enough. I’m ordering one for my mom for her birthday
New favorite hat!
This is my new favorite hat. It's resilient to squishing, looks cute, is sun protecting, fits my head well (size L/XL, measurement worked), has a strap for wind, is breathable on my head, and doesn't get sweaty. I have a lot of sun hats that I've used for fieldwork, but wanted a sun hat for fun trips and casual hiking that didn't look quite so.... dorky? I mean I don't care at all how I look when I'm working, but for a casual trip, walking the dog, or being outside in general it's awesome to still be able to look cute while still staying out of the sun. I will note, I am a little suspicious of the SPF rating since the sun does come through in little cracks, with sun speckles are visible in photos. I still wear sunscreen though so am unconcerned.
Desert Rat Hat
Oh this is my second purchase of this hat. The first one was in Navy. Not my favorite color. But the hat was great for taking out in the water on SUP and doing yard work and hiking in the Mojave. Needless to say I beat the S__t out of it. My husband couldn't let me throw it away so he repaired it. But I had to order a fresh one.This is the best sun hat I have ever owned. Others might be a little cooler looking, but this one can withstand the elements and sweat. It can be gently washed and stuffed in a pack. For a desert rat hiker this is the best.
Not the same quality as a few years ago
I bought this hate about 4 years ago and wore it nonstop in the summer. After so much sweat and washing it was time to replace. The quality is much worse. It doesn't fit right, my ears get bent by the top, when I use the cord to keep it tight in the breeze it makes the sides droop down. I wear this hat for work so it looking somewhat stylish and not silly is one of the reasons I loved it so much. But being comfortable and functional was also... Necessary. Sadly won't be using this one as its getting returned. I just get so bummed out how good products get ruined by manufacturers trying to save money but charge more. I'm guessing it's on sale bc others are having the same experience as me.
