Rigid and fits funny

Positives- this will definitely keep you dry and protect from wind! Negatives- this is the first coat I've bought that I thought was way too small around the bottom. Doesn't seem like it's designed for women with curves. I consider myself on the curvier side but I've never had an issue with a coat being too tight around my hips because women's fit are usually flared at the bottom. The sleeves were also surprisingly long. I planned to use this coat for backpacking but even aside from the fit, the fabric is so rigid it doesn't seem to pack down small enough. I returned the item and plan to go with one of the REI brand shells that are softer.

Cute, comfy, and dry

Cute, comfy, and versatile! I have this rolled up into its own hood in my day pack. The fit is slim, so while another The North Face jacket in size M had me drowning, this one fit me much more closely but still allows room for a fleece underneath. I love the cayenne color, very easy to pick out in the wilderness. And the waterproofing held up against an Arc’teryx.

It's perfect!

I was prepared to not love this jacket - I don't seem to have a lot of luck ordering on-line, but, I love it! I have wanted a rain jacket forever for the unpredictable MN spring/fall weather and this is exactly what I was looking for. It's cute and lightweight, water resistant and I stayed dry. I got the Cayenne Red for something different (usually get black) and it's just like the photo; a fun, cheery color. All in all a great jacket. If I had to complain about anything, the pockets seem a little too far back on the jacket. I find myself searching for them, but, it's no reason to not choose this great piece.

Great raingear!

Extremely nice rain jacket. Breathable and comfortable. Fully waterproof and fits well. Hood covers but not so much as to not be able to see.

Great at keeping me dry, a little snug in the shoulders

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is a very comfortable weight of fabric. Kept me dry in a thunderstorm of hail (and pouring rain) recently. It's a perfect jacket for southern California rain because it was still comfortable in the warm after the rain stopped. My only complaint is that the shoulders of the jacket are narrow and my shoulders are broader for a woman. I can wear this jacket on its own comfortably, but I'm not sure whether it would I would wear it in the field on trips given that it doesn't layer great with my body type.

Pricier than my usual raingear but so far it's worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After returning the first for a larger size I'm excited to have a jacket that seems to keep the rain off while also feeling soft and comfortable on the inside. I haven't worn it yet for hours in the rain but so far the water in showers I've encountered beads up completely. Beware gals, if you want to layer under this jacket, you'll probably need a size bigger than recommended by both the size chart and the several sales folks I spoke with before my first try at the right size.

No

I got this jacket for my birthday a few years ago and it hasn't been waterproof from the beginning. The water is not even coming in from the seams but from the fabric itself. I once had my phone in my pocket during a rainy hike in New Zealand and unfortunately I had to buy a new phone afterwards as mine died from water damage. The jacket looks great and is a very good fit. I loved that it is a little bit longer but it an definitely not be called a rain jacket.

I would not buy this or recommend it to a friend

I did a lot of research before buying this product. I bought this instead of a gortex jacket, as it was advertised to be more lightweight but just as waterproof and durable. This jacket is NOT waterproof. I wore it 2 times hiking in the rain and it soaked right through to my mid-layer in both the sleeves and under the zipper. My phone also got wet in my pocket. I've emailed north face many times about returning this jacket and have received no response.

NOT WATERPROOF AT ALL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is NOT a waterproof jacket. From the first time I used the jacket I confirmed that this jacket is not waterproof or water repellent. You get really wet specially the shoulders, arms and back. It's a pity because is a really beautiful jacket but if you spend 200€ in a waterproof jacket you expect to be protected from the rain. It happens the same in a male version with the futurelight technology. I am really disappointed with this jacket.

I love everything about my new jacket!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this jacket! I got it for traveling and for hiking but also for every day use. I was impressed the first time I wore it walking along the coast in wind and rain and quickly found just how good the wind proofing/waterproofing! It's lightweight and super comfortable. The shape of the hood was nice because it didn't hang over my eyes but had a little lip to help keep rain out of my face. I highly recommend this jacket!
