I couldn’t be happier with the quality, comfort and performance of this tent. The setup and takedown is easy. Great control of ventilation.
I had the original Skyrise3 and this HD version is much improved. Everything is higher quality, from the materials to the zippers. -It's roomier; I think they changed the length on the diagonal supports to make the roof higher. -The fabric is much thicker and there are multiple waterproofing enhancements, like rubber underneath the fly on the corners and overlapping material on all the zippers. -The windows are also much larger and the front door and rear window are essentially the same now. If you don't have the fly on, the poles slot into the door flap on both sides and act as an awning. Pretty neat. -The ladder also collapses back into the stored position without manually thumbing the switches on each level (there are little dimples on the steps that automatically unlock the steps as you are collapsing it). -The cover is larger, so it's easy to keep your bedding in the tent when you fold it up. -The floor seems very sturdy. Not sure if they changed anything, but the previous version made some popping sounds. The HD version is completely solid. -The track corners for the annex are beefier. I had trouble with the previous version, and these are much improved. I'm loving the tent. I have it mounted on a custom built trailer and it has completely changed my camping experience. 5 minutes to close up the tent and take off, so even if you have it mounted on a car, it's not a huge hassle to drive someone. It really feels like you're in a tree-house. It's also great that there's no need to brush down the underside or find a level spot. I really recommend the annex and the skyloft accessory.
The SkyRise HD tent has been a great companion on our adventures. The heavy fabric is really durable and done a great job keeping us dry on rainy nights. The windows and doors are big and let lots of air and light in when desired, but the fabric is also nearly blackout so it keeps the light out if you like to sleep in or take an afternoon nap. I love the skylight feature. You can lookout at the stars as you drift off to sleep. The ladder works great and has a quick collapse feature I really like. It makes taking down the tent much easier than other ladders I've used. The mattress density seems perfect for me. I know it's subjective, but I've used other tents that have a super mushy mattress and I didn't care for them as I got cold spots on my shoulders and hips. This one seems to be a nice mid/firm comfortable mattress. I also really like the look and color scheme of the SkyRise HD tent. If you are looking for a great RTT, this is a really nice option.
Tent great, shipping took many weeks, seemed way too long for ordering from the store in Rochester NY only 80 miles from my home. Tracking was completely inaccurate. REI customer service had no answers.
