Patagonia got it right with this short. I think the cut is perfect, not tight, not baggy. The fabric is light, a little stretchy, but durable. I know from experience that these can handle a spill on the trail. The three pockets seem like the right amount for pre and post ride needs. The liner works nicely. There's enough mesh that I don't feel like I'm stewing in them. The padding is awesome. I haven't found a liner that I don't occasionally have to pull out of my crotch and unfortunately these are no exception. This short really shines with the hook and loop adjustments at the waistband. There are about a dozen loops on each side for micro adjustments for an exact, perfect fit each time out. Furthermore each hook pulls from the back of the short. A small detail but this cuts down on the bunching if you really need to tighten up the waist. The sizing is consistent with other Patagonia shorts. I was unsure if these were worth the Patagucci price tag but I'm glad I got them because they're the first shorts I reach for when I'm headed out for a ride.

Outer shorts are great, liner needs work

The outer shorts fit well and are of a nice stretch material. I recommended ordering a size up. The liners, however, need work. They need rubber on the leg opening so they stay in place whileriding. These ride up harshly in the crotch after a few pedal strokes. Did anyone ride these after they were designed? Expect much more from Patagonia.

Decent short, expected more

Like others mentioned, the outer short is nice material good fit and stretch material. Pockets are shallow, side zip pocket is good for a phone, but it will move around a bit. Quality is very high. The liner is pretty weak for the price. The chamois is very good, but the non-slip legs are not that - they slip and tend to ride up as you are pedaling. I tend to use the outers with a different, more comfortable liner. Size: I'm in-between a 32-34 and the 34's fit very nice.

Expensive but worth it

Really comfortable liner and shorts combination. Shorts fit well and fabric stays cool and dries quickly, but were too long for me (below the knee) and had to be altered. Liner in particular is comfortable while riding and when sitting, don't show conspicuous bulges like some other liners. While they are expensive, I think there's value in the fit and fabric and have ordered another pair.

Great Trail Shorts

Comfortable shorts that do what they are supposed to. I've worn these on Durango trails three times in the last week, and they are great. Comfortable, and no riding up issues. The pockets are great, and I didn't notice any pull from overloading the side pocket with phone/keys, etc. I'm 6'1", 195Lbs, and wear 34" jeans. Size 36 is perfect for me.

run small

I am size 29. Bought 30 and barely squeezed in the liners. The outer shell felt ok however was on the widest belt setting. Great quality (and expensive too!) it seemed from just a quick trying on.

Great shorts for commuters who cycle to work

Bought these for my husband who commutes by bike to work 5 days a week. He changes when he gets to work and these dry by the time it is time to ride home. He loves them! True to size, well made and do the job they are designed for.

Mountain biking shorts

Not true to size. Runs small. My waist is 34 in everything, and I could barely put them on. I would say more than one size too small. Otherwise, nice shorts. Like the fact that it has the liner. Would not buy them again since it’s a pain to return and repurchase.
