Smooth and Lightweight
I have used Patagonia Stand-Up shorts for decades and decided to try these. First of all, they are 76% cotton and 24% hemp but I guess "lightweight mostly cotton with some hemp shorts" wouldn't work from a marketing point of view. They ARE vey lightweight but not to the point that you would worry about them holding up. What surprised me is how very smooth, roomy, and airy they are - perfect for hot weather. I would buy them again with no hesitation. I'll have to get back to you at the end of summer on well they hold up.
My favorite shorts
I love these shorts. They are a perfect fit, light weight for wearing every day and are durable enough to last for years. I bought my first pair of these years ago and loved them so much that I bought several in the same color just in case they stopped making them. I had my first pair finally rip from overwear but it took over five years of wearing them several times every week (I live in Hawaii so I truly wear them ever week) before they finally died. I highly recommend this style. Since they make so many colors it is now the only shorts I wear.
My everyday Go-To
I own about a dozen pairs of these in various colors and lengths. They are my everyday go to shorts. Extremely lightweight, breathable and comfy yet darn good looking enough to get away with at work for business casual. Other reviews have mentioned color loss or fading but I've experienced NONE of this and again own about a dozen pairs in various colors that have been laundered hundreds of times.... Cold water wash with free/clear detergent and air dry y'all!
Faded after weeks-buy another color
I’ve worn these shorts for just over a year - comfy as heck but the color has faded to a weird pinkish copper. Don’t buy the grey

Wrinkles easily at the waistband and grey color fades into pink spots after 2 cold washes. Don’t waste your money on grey. Returning them and getting another pair with a different color
Grey Faded after 2-3 washes.
Liked the shorts…after 2 washes/maybe 3–the grey faded into a pinkish hue, in spots. Pretty noticeable. Exchanged after inquiring @ store about maybe user error (?) on washing/drying them? Will Try again with a new pair—after seeing other review with similar report—not as hopeful. Shame. Guess I’ll buy the pink to see if they fade into gray.
Color Faded even with Cold Washes
shorts are comfortable but after 2 months the gray color has faded and a reddish tint appears. I washed them only in cold water and never used a dryer.
Decent shorts but high price.
Are these $75 good? No. Got them on sale so I feel better. Super light and comfortable. I enjoy wearing them. I saw a reviewer complain about wrinkling and I agree. These are a $50 short on a good day.
great shorts
I struggle finding shorts that fit me well as a lengthier person. These were exactly what I was looking for.
Not perfect, but very good for hot, humid weather.
As other reviewers note, these shorts do wrinkle easily. That is not much of an issue for me because these are shorts I wear in a casual setting. The real value of these shorts is how lightweight and breathable they are. The fit/cut and the fabric make for a very "airy" wearing feel. This really pays off in hot, humid summer weather in the Northeast!
