Lock Cylinders Came without Instructions

I'm now borrowing the Thule rooftop bike racks friends of ours own, to temporarily mount to the top of our Subaru Forester for transcontinental travel. They did not have lock cylinders for the rack-to-car clamp on their car, so I bought two. The little black box of locks and keys that came had no sign of instructions, and the usage of the "blank" master key eluded me until after I had gotten the first lock misinstalled 180deg out of its proper position, locked non-functionally into the rack. I recovered with a flashlight, close inspection, and a tiny screwdriver, but I would much have appreciated getting written instructions with the new locks.

Super awesome kit and REI made this easy! Thanks

Thule and REI make is Super easy to change locks! Super great folks at REI coaching me through a lock change. The key had broken off in the lock. I purchased this to replace both cores. They are keyed the same and come with key change key, two keys and two cores. Dealing with the broken key was a little challenging as it had to be pushed in the whole way to get the lock to open. But totally got it. The 3/4 turn is a great tip, and you will need some plyers - again only if you have broken off your key. If you haven't broken key and just need to chage lock cores, this is super simple! Thank you REI!

ABSOLUTE JOKE - PURE AND SIMPLE THEFT

Charging this amount of money for something that should have been INCLUDED in the original system and is this cheap to produce is UNREAL. I will tell every soul I know to never buy Thule products EVER. What a load of you know what. Not sure if this soon to be worth zero business is owned by some private equity vampire squid cockroach sith darklord screwing customers but if this business wants to retain customers over the long term (it doesn't....) then it would not do this. Seriously, an absolute JOKE. You clearly only care about FLEECING customers. Good luck in your future; likely you will need it.

Need to provide more keys

Ordered a set of 8 keyed-alike locks. Pros: Product arrived on-time. The locks were easy to install / swap out. Cons: Only received two keys with the eight locks. Would have been nice to get a one or two more keys with the 8-pack. Unable to order additional keys from the Thule as the website continually shows them as out of stock, and the availability date keeps getting pushed out. I'm going to say Yes to recommending the product due to the convenience of having everything keyed alike. But REALLY frustrated in not being able to get additional keys.

Great product!

These are great locks and go with all the items on my bike roof rack. These definately protect all the parts from theft, they are easy to use, look good, and fairly easy to put in. The only bad parts are that at times, it is a bit hard to get the key in or pull the key out, they are very expensive, and it took about 2 weeks to get here because it came all the way from Sweden. That is longer than I have ever waited on an item! I also love that these were made in Sweden because I am part Swedish. Great, quality product!

Difficult to insert into cover

I replaced the original plastic pins that came with the Thule roof basket with these locks and The new metal locks were very difficult to insert into the cover in place of the plastic pins. Got two of the locks in place after spending about 30 minutes. A week later I tried again and I finally got the other 2 locks installed after fighting with them for a good while. Now that they are installed I don't think I will ever remove them. What a hassle and over priced.

as expected

Bought these locks for my bike rack to add security feature. TBH I think they should be included with the purchase but I guess it's a way for Thule to make $$$. Instructions are fairly straight forward but had to troubleshoot with a YouTube video to make sure I wasn't breaking anything. Thule should maybe think about doing there own video series for how to install these things on products - just an idea.

Makes any rack more secure

I've been using the One-key system for years and can't imagine going without it. I just got a new roof rack with EOV clamps and wouldn't think of putting those on without the key system. Easy to install, easy to remove. Only downside is that they used to come with a metal storage box, but now it's only cardboard.

Very Difficult to Insert

These lock cylinders are made well, but they are almost impossible to insert into the roof rack system I bought, rendering them useless. I was able to insert 2 of the 4 cylinders into my Aero Blade roof rack. I'm just hoping someone won't steal our surfboards when they are attached to the rack. Not worth it.

can't find user manual for keys and locks

my locks didn't include the user manual for setting keys. The Thule web site won't provide instruction without a product number, and the product number is not on the box. Sure, there are Utube videos, but no good reason Thule doesn't make it easier to find the instructions from their web site.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback! Lock cylinder installation instructions are included in the user manual for each Thule product that is compatible with the Thule One-Key system. This is because some products have slightly different installation steps and a "general" manual may not be useful for all carriers. I apologize that this was not made more clear on the website.
