Great cycling lobster claw for sub-freezing days

I purchased these to use for cycling on days where the temps are below the freezing point and they did not disappoint. Even at 18-20mph pace with temps in the mid-20's, my hands felt almost hot. These outperformed my hat, my jacket, tights and shoe covers by a mile. Inside they are comfy and spacious with room for a liner glove if needed (I haven't yet). While you give up a little bit of dexterity with this type glove, but the trade off in warmth is worth it. I don't know how well they do at keeping water out, but I could see these being very good for their intended purpose (skiiing) as well. I generally wear a size M in most cycling glove brands (Giro, Pearl Izumi, Specialized, etc) and these, as with two other pairs of Swix gloves I have fit true to size.

Pretty good

I got these for biking so I can handle braking and gear changes better. I have worn them for commuting down to 20°F and today for a 60K road ride in temps just over freezing with a damp, stiff breeze. They work OK, braking is easy, gear changes need a bit more attention, but they do the job. My hands stay warm and I feel in control. They don't feel overheated or damp as some others have (look at you ShowerPass) but the weird thing is the elasticated wrist bands do feel damp so as you take them on and off you *think* you are going to feel sweaty. I just took off one star for that and the imperfect gear control, no way round the bulkiness.

Amazing (cycling) glove

I've got a sweet collection of winter cycling gloves. Lobster gloves from Pearl Izumi, Gore-Tex gloves from, well, Gore. Neoprene fishing gloves, merino liners, softshell gloves, wind mittens, snowboard mittens. You name it, I have a box of them. Living in Idaho we get bitter cold winds and freezing temps from November onward. I've never been diagnoed with Renaud's (sp?), but my hands are the weak link. Adding insult to injury is the cost of cycling specific gloves (that haven't worked for me). The Swix Gunde Split Mittens are a keeper! I bet a thin liner would take my hands down to a temp so low that I'd probably not want to ride outside for fear of ice. Bottom line: $40 msrp is a screaming deal for these if you're a cyclist looking to extend your outdoor season (because riding indoors is excruciating for me even with a good movie or Zwift race). Thank you Swix!

Best gloves ever

These are the best gloves ever. I’ve tried so many other fives and my hands were always cold. These are the only gloves that have ever kept my hands warm during any activity. If your fingers are always freezing and hurt buy these now.

Warm, yet dexterous.

Definitely warmer than my Swix 5 finger gloves. My last ski was in the upper 30’s and I have to say the Split Mittens were too warm, which is opposite of the problem I usually have with gloves. I was worried about losing dexterity but was pleasantly surprised instead.

Best $40 gloves you'll ever buy

These are much warmer than I thought they would be. I have pretty terrible circulation and my hands were toasty in 13f + wind while skate skiing. Bought them for skate skiing, but think I'll end up using them for backcountry too (at least on the uphill). Great fit, best $40 I've ever spent on gloves.

warm hands on cold days

I use these primarily for cold weather cycling--around freezing give or take a few degrees either way--but also snow shoeing. They keep my hands plenty warm and if they get a bit too warm and sweaty, they breathe pretty well to wick away the damp while also doing a solid job of blocking the wind. The key to the warmth is, of course, having two fingers snuggled in together to share the warmth. Shifting is not inhibited as is the case with bulkier five-finger gloves.
