Great for Spring Skiing & Groomers
I was a bit hesitant to buy because of the many iffy / not stoked reviews, but I still wanted to try these for myself. I actually love them, but I don't think they're for everyone. For me, these are a supplementary pair of bibs, not my main ski pants. If you're looking for your first pair of ski / boarding pants or looking to replace a primary pair, I don't think these are it. They're thinner and lightweight, and while they feel relatively waterproof to me, I don't know if I trust them in deep powder / backcountry skiing. That being said, they've been on the chairlift with me and I've laid down in snow in them, and have stayed perfectly dry. They don't have that thick puffy insulation that a lot of snow pants offer, so they're SUPER flattering, but not heavy. I have primarily used these for xc skiing and spring downhill skiing. On those warmer days (anything over 20-25°F) I think they're perfect. I live in Montana, so some of my ski days are closer to 5°F, and I generally want a thicker pant for that. I absolutely love the fit. I'm about 5'5, 135lb, a size 4 or size 27 in pants. I bought these in a small, and love the fit. They're more fitted in the thighs, but not tight. I think that's just the style- again, these are not super baggy like a lot of snow pants. I'm a little curvier (I hold a lot of my weight in my thighs and butt) but they still fit comfortably. If you're REALLY pear-shaped, I don't know if these would work. I do think they run long, so if you're any shorter than me, consider the 'short' version. Even I am RIGHT on the cusp of these working, length wise. They drag on the floor if I'm not wearing my ski boots. I'm definitely keeping them- they have quite a few vents and convenient pockets, and I like the front pocket for my headphones while skiing. If you're looking for a nice spring pair of bibs (or you live somewhere with less backcountry skiing and more groomers), these might be perfect for you. But I would not rely on them as my primary pair.
Great affordable Bibs
So far these bibs have been great! I was looking for an affordable bib that would keep me warm and were functional when riding, specifically when dropping trou in the backcountry. These are super easy to use and look great, my only quarrel would be that I wish there were more pockets. I am usually a size small in snow pants but went with size medium so I would have room for layers. When trying on the small the fit looked nice but there was not much room for layers and the zippers fell down / buttons popped when I bent over right away. With the medium, I have no issues with the zippers / buttons at all and I have used them quite a bit. I was skeptical of the large thigh pockets with no zippers but they are so deep that you would never lose anything and the chest pocket is awesome. With my height these are a bit long but they stay scrunched over my boots while riding / walking. Highly recommend if you size up.
Okay for the price
I really liked the way these bibs fit. I'm 5'5" and 160 lbs with curvy/athletic build and the large fit pretty well. The first two times I wore them they were great. The third time I wore them, I noticed how wet my legs were. They aren't very waterproof unfortunately so I decided to return. I also found that the bottom of the legs got pretty ripped up. Given I am a new skier and took a couple falls, the amount of tearing at the bottom of the pants for only wearing 3 times gave me the indication they would not hold up for as long as I would like. For the price I think they are an okay pair of bibs but I would suggest spending a little more for a pair that will last.
Would be perfect if Burton made a curvy fit!
I’m 5’5” and 135 lbs, usually wear size 27/4. I purchased these in the teal color in size small. I love them! They’re so cute and I love the color. I didn’t have issues with the zippers coming undone, but the snap buttons by the zipper do have a tendency to pop open when I bend over. I took off one star for that, and also because these bibs are cut for a pretty straight frame. My measurements are 35, 27, 39 (thigh: 22.5”) and I’ve had a hard time finding snow pants that fit well but these have been my favorite. They’re tight in the thigh (but I was still able to wear layers underneath) and loose in the waist where the elastic is. Since these are bibs with stretch, they are still comfortable and have no risk of falling down. I wish burton would make these in a “curvy” fit, there’s definitely a market for it!
Great! Suggest trying on for side button/zipper
I hadnt gone skiing for almost 20 years. I knew I wanted a bib instead of pants- an employee at REI helped me find a bib that would have what I was looking for - including the drop bottom for easy access to use the restroom. I tried these on, immediately loved, and was excited to give them a try. Having not seen the reviews prior, when I read them I was nervous. However, these did not disappoint! I will say, I think the challenge with the zippers and buttons depends on where it hits your figure. I am curvy, and with the length of my torso, the zipper and buttons hit at my waist. Because of this, I have worn these several times now and have not had any issues with them. I would suggest trying on if you can to see where the zipper and buttons land. These are great and comfy!
Top-of-the-line bib style snow pants
These pants are extremely well-made and everything I wanted out of a pair of high-end snow pants. I love the pockets and appreciated the chest pocket for accessories and a quick granola bar. They were very comfortable for snow trekking, snowboarding, XC skiing, and fashionable snowveralls to boot! Very important when you live in a climate that's snowy half the year. They're not very bulky, so I got to pick and choose how much insulation to wear underneath, and I appreciate this versatility. I ended up returning them because as an average-height (5'6") woman, these were too long and ended up underneath my snow boots, and I will hold out for the short version to be back in stock.
Doesn't fit athletic body type
I am muscular 5' 9" and about 170, larger hips and but area (weigh lifting legs). I bought both the L and XL. I wish Burton would make an in-between size, and shape their bibs to fit more of a women figure. The L was very tight when I put them on, if needed I could have used them but they weren't comfortable, mobility was limited, and I would only be able to fit a very light/ thin base layer under them. The XL like the other reviews stated fit like they were meant for someone who is 6'-6'5" and 200lbs and up. I was swimming in the XL and they were about 8 inches too long when I synched them all the way up. Pros: The material stretches more than expected. Think little more substantial than jeggings. Cons: Poor shape design to fit a women's athletic figure, not consistent sizing to reflect L and XL in most other brands.
Not worth the money
These are not worth the price. They don’t stay water proof for long, so if you are an avid rider or skier you will find your butt wet after about a month of use. They are also not warm, they aren’t good for weather beneath 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The pants also have some design flaws: the buckles that hold up the straps often come undone and the zippers on both sides also fall very easily and I’ve found myself embarrassed before by the bottom flap open.
Super lame
Zippers fall down. Think about those old style pj’s that open in the back so you can go to the bathroom. Now imagine your skiing in those with the back open.
Kept me warm and insulated!
These are a great pair of bibs. It should be known that I have never owned bibs before but these are great. I was afraid they would be too short as I am 5'7-5'8 but the length is just right for me to fit over my boots. I guess if you are a more advanced snowboarder you might have a more detailed opinion but for me they get the job done and didn't give me any issues. Based off of how they fit the model in the picture, mine are a little loose in the back where the elastic is but it does not bother me enough to return them. Overall great bibs!
