Really well built, not the best EDC
I am very much a Benchmade fanboy. I have several of their knives and am never disappointed. When the Bailout was introduced with 3V steel, I was very interested (this is generally a steel used on fixed blade knives and not folders). The knife weight and ergonomics are comparable to the Bugout (which I also own) and it fits in my pocket nicely without being in the way. The biggest issue I have with this knife is the tanto style blade. This isn’t ideal for detail work and is awkwardly shaped for opening packages and most definitely wouldn’t be ideal for camp duties. Tanto blades were originally designed to pierce armor and are more of a stabby blade than a utilitarian blade shape so I wouldn’t recommend this knife for someone entering into their first foray in the EDC world and feel like it’s a high-end novelty blade rather than a useful blade. I think I would recommend the Benchmade 940 Osbourne or the Benchmade 535 Bugout over the Bailout for outdoor duties. But I think the 940 Osbourne will outshine the Bugout in many ways. Would I recommend the Bailout for camp duties or EDC? Probably not. Would I recommend it for cool factor? Yes.
Lightweight and perfect size
Perfect size and great weight! Like the tanto blade more than I thought I would.
