SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Super jacket for the price, with 2 exceptions
AT Hiker
This jacket uses superior materials, same as the other big outdoor brands. Fit is great and isn't super slim; I would say's it's regular. I'm 5'11, 180 lbs and wear size medium. I have enough room for a base layer and wool sweater if you need it. I purchased this jacket only as an outer layer and did not purchase this jacket as a mid-layer, otherwise I would have gone with a synthetic due to moisture issues. I have only 2 gripes that I've listed below. Know that REI does a super nice job with most of their products and they can beat the other big outdoor companies with value. However, in some cases they miss the mark. So, as the customer you have to weigh the price vs the "misses". I typically like to pay more for a quality product, and just have less products. However, in my case, I caught this jacket on a major sale (>50% off). I would have returned the jacket if I had paid REI's retail price. Gripe 1: The elastic cuffs on the sleeves are much too loose and let cold air out of the arms. All of my other outdoor jackets from the other big brands have much better fitting elastic. The point of elastic is so that it comfortably stretches around the wrist. With this jacket, there is no stretching as it's almost an inch too big (about a 1 inch gap between elastic and my wrist) and I do not have a small wrist. This is a big mistake on the tailoring I can't fathom why they didn't catch this during design. They may as well have left the elastic off all together. The whole point of a down jacket is to trap heat within the layers of down. Allowing air to constantly escape the wrist was an error on their end. I've even thought of sending it to a tailor to fix. Gripe 2: The hood is poorly fitting around the chin and neck. No matter how much I tighten the hood, it has several gaps around the chin and sides of the face. The reason for this is that the elastic cord on the hood does not run around the forehead and cheeks. It simply tightens around the head, like a ball cap/trucker hat. Just odd. All of my other hooded jackets (rain shell, synthetics) provide tightening of the hood around the face, as opposed to only the head. REI missed the mark. It's almost like they didn't try this jacket on before production and asked an outdoor person about the fit. I'm beginning to lose confidence in their brand. Overall, this is better than the big box store down jackets (Columbia), but falls well short of the higher brand's down jackets (OR, Mtn Hardwear, Patagonia, Marmot, etc), which is what REI wants to compete with. Bottom line, this jacket will not keep you warm in super cold, snowy, windy conditions due to the design flaws. If you are just a casual wearer around town, hiking, camping, it will serve you well, especially at the price point. Due to the flaws, I just wouldn't completely trust it in an alpine environment/backpacker as my sole piece of insulation. Pay more for more.

Not For Fishing
Pete

This is an amazing jacket in the right application. Fishing just isnt that scenario. Down is super warm and the asphalt gray looks great. Where this jacket failed me is there is NO stretch in the armpits for casting. In fact, I cant even lift my arms over my head without underarm discomfort and the sleeves riding up and complicating layering. Now I know why the model (same size as I am) isnt raising the roof in the photo If you're buying this coat for looks or warmth during light activity it's 100% a go. If you are looking for performance gear that moves with your body I'd look elsewhere

Light, Warm, Packs Well, and Extra Coverage!

This was my main insulation piece on a fall hike of VT's Long Trail. It was light, warm and packs down well. The hood was nice to have and I loved that it was a little longer in back. Durability seems good. Temps went down into the 30s and it was fine with a single long sleeve wool layer underneath. Good piece of gear.

Excellent puffy jacket in many ways!

This jacket has been excellent so far. I have an REI 650 down puffy and this 850 down puffy picks up where its abilities stop delivering. It's a very comfortable jacket that fits snug, but not too tight like athletic fit, and it delivers down to 20° with a merino wool base layer. The stuffed hood, lacking on the 650 puffy, makes a huge difference. It has a grosgrain clip on the back. Tighting it, it snugs the hood around your head/face from within. I'm 6' tall and weigh approximately 190/200 lbs. An XL is a perfect fit for me. To top it off, I made an impulse buy when it was at a 50% discount. I'm totally pleased at that, but I still would've been happy if I paid full price.

Almost perfect with 1 big flaw

This is a fantastic jacket for the price. Kept me very warm in 2 degree weather and the water repellent works nicely. Good quality material and zippers work great. Fitment is mostly good but the big flaw is the way the zipper is sewn. When you stand up straight it creates a awkward bulge and looks like you are hiding something under your jacket lol. I was going to try to return it assuming that was a fluke but I have read other reviews saying the same thing so I am guessing this is why it was so heavily discounted when I bought it.

Awesome jacket but lacking in durability

Love this jacket! It is super lightweight, cozy, and comfortable. Great fit for all around use in cold weather. I am 6', 200lbs and the Large fits me perfect. My only complaint is that it is a bit lacking in durability. Less than 6 months in, there are already a couple of small spots where the down is coming out. I can repair it with tape but the down jackets I've owned from other companies have all had better durability. Definitely a bit disappointed in this one on that front, so knocking off a couple stars. Probably wouldn't buy it again. If you are really gentle with your gear, it could be great for you.

Needs tighter cuffs

Great jacket with one exception - the cuffs are much to loose. The jacket's material and fit are extremely comfortable. 5'11", 195lbs, 45" chest and the large fits great. Living in Florida now, I'm not very cold tolerant anymore - I get cold easily but am comfortable in low 30's temps with just a tee-shirt on under it. If the cuffs snugged up it would be a solid 5.

Overall nice

Nice coat - good look and feel, three zipper pockets, lightweight yet warm - although seems to form micro-tears relatively easily, early after my purchase. Hope the occasional insulation leakage I witnessed doesn't worsen. Bought some Tenacious Tape just in case.

Warm in 0° F!

Wearing a Smart Wool base layer under and a REI Drypoint GTX shell over, and I was warm in 0° F (-9° F windchill) weather in Wisconsin! Just walking with this set-up for 10 minutes and I had to open everything up and vent myself as I was already starting to overheat under. I bought a size L and am 5’9” and 215 lbs at the moment, and the fit is really good. I only have 1 gripe, and it is that the cuffs suck. They have elastic on them, but it does nothing really. I could fix it myself if I really wanted to, and may do so later on. I love this coat though!

The perfect down jacket

Purchased this coat as this was my first year of hiking the SHT in the cold weather here in Minnesota. I love it! It’s super light at under 14 oz and extremely warm even though it fits slightly loose but is good for layering or your backpack while hiking! It’s like the perfect down jacket all rolled into this one product for a much cheaper price than the competitors like Patagonia or The North Face. Plus very stylish! I highly recommend it!

Best bargain for this weight/warmth

Fantastic jacket for the price, especially when it goes on sale or with a code. The cut is slim enough to keep excess air out, but I was able to add two base layers underneath with no problem. The hood is cut well and stays put. Sleeves are the proper length for me. The baffles are uniform and well filled for this mid-warmth jacket. The only things I would change is to add an inside pocket and have more horizontal room in the hand warmer pockets. Without gloves, my wrists are not covered in the pockets. For reference I am 6', 185lbs and narrow shoulders.

By far the best down-filled jacket of all.

The 850 weight is toasty warm and very light. Not at all bulky or heavy. Similar to the 650 but the sections are a little smaller and the coat is lighter. When shopping for coats like this, don’t be fooled only by the weight number - that’s not the total indication of overall warmth... a higher number just tells you, in effect, that it takes less of the down to produce the same warmth level (eg the coat will feel just as warm but with a lighter weight). I don’t prefer a bulky coat so this one is perfect for me. Also be aware that this is not going to work without a shell if you are in a wet weather situation. It will not keep you warm if it’s wet. I use this under an Arcteryx Beta Jacket, but there is an REI waterproof shell that is just as good and probably is cut a bit better to fit the down jacket. I would definitely recommend this product as better than competing offerings from Patagonia, Arcteryx, and others that are similar but sold at a higher price or priced the same but inferior in terms of weight.
