Runs a bit smaller. I’m a size 4 in jeans (particularly from Old Navy) and got a size Medium in these. I’m also 5’1” so these ran a bit longer and felt looser in my legs. Exchanged for the Patagonia Snowbelle pants in a size medium short. They feel more high quality and fit my legs better. The waist band on the Patagonia snow pants is wider than the North Face one so it feels more comfortable when my belly pooch folds over on the ski lift when I sit. The Patagonia snow pants is basically the upgraded version of this North Face one. If you’re looking for quality snow pants i’d go with Patagonia.
Overall love the pants themselves. Got the garnet/maroon ones, color is really pretty. Vents, insulation, belt loops all perfect. Only problem, the sizing is very off. I’m a solid XL in outdoor/snow gear, never with issue and follow measurements. I fit in these but tight, hips and bum area small for an XL and short main zipper. disappointed in fit. Would recommend but tell anyone to order at least +1 size than normal sizing.
This is my third pair of North Face Freedom ski pants... the only reason I have 3 is because the first pair I bought in 2011 and they don’t fit anymore but are still in good condition. And the 2nd and 3rd are just because I wanted one blue pair and one black. I just received the black pair and they fit perfectly. I love how their flattering in the butt area (which is hard to do in ski pants!) but I also like how they fit perfectly over my ski boots or snow boots. I do wear them with a pair of leggings underneath and they’re really comfortable!
I wear these for winter hikes. I love the level of comfort and warmth the provide. The pockets are a good size and the zipped vents are a great feature. I only wish they had the metal look that you connect to your boots. Otherwise, a great product.
I am tall and athletic build and I needed snow pants that would accommodate my knee brace. Some of the reviews on these pants stated that they were running small but I did not really find this to be the case. These pants are loose around the knees without being too big in the waist and perfect for my regular use at a ski patroller. I am 5’9.5” and 145 lbs and the mediums are plenty big for me.
I have purchased literally 6 other pairs. Had to return all. these are nearly perfect. They are form fitting and adjustable at waist. They are a tad big (I'm 5'6, 130-135 lbs, 27 waist, 37 hips and I got a Small), but XS were too tight. I wish they had more colors. I'd buy another pair in turquoise. Warm and durable.
I'm normally size 14-16 with a curvy hips. They fit well when I tried them on! Looking forward to using them come winter. Also love the vibrant orange color!
I'll have to shorten length of pants for myself. Otherwise Great ! Retire US NAVY GAL, cynda
Love these! Very nice color, the vents are amazing.
I just recently bought these for skiing and they were absolutely amazing. It was freezing temps outside and I had these on with just a pair of fleece lined leggings and my legs were never cold! The purple color is really pretty and true to the picture and the surplus of zippers were super handy! The biggest plus for me is the velcro on the sides of the waistband so you can tighten the pants if you need to! These kept me super warm and dry!
