Great for affordable mid-priced snowpant
Runs a bit smaller. I’m a size 4 in jeans (particularly from Old Navy) and got a size Medium in these. I’m also 5’1” so these ran a bit longer and felt looser in my legs. Exchanged for the Patagonia Snowbelle pants in a size medium short. They feel more high quality and fit my legs better. The waist band on the Patagonia snow pants is wider than the North Face one so it feels more comfortable when my belly pooch folds over on the ski lift when I sit. The Patagonia snow pants is basically the upgraded version of this North Face one. If you’re looking for quality snow pants i’d go with Patagonia.
Love love love
Wow! I'm impressed. I bought these to replace my Sally pants, and it's worth the investment! The inner thigh zippers are great for "spring" snowboarding temps (20-30s F), the pockets are roomy, the material holds up well with all sorts of snow. I usually wear coldgear long layers and padded shorts under my snow gear. I'm 5'5, 30" waits and 36" hips, I wear Levi's Jean size 28, weighing in at about 145lbs with athletic build. I used the "Fit Finder" on the website to determine which size to get based on my sizing info and preference of loose fitting clothes. In lieu of the results, I bought a size large with some hesitation but I've gone out a few times and LOVE the fit. Perfect length and size to go over my layers and snowboarding boots without drag or snag. Easy to move in, comfortable, and durable! Withstands NE winds very well, so far very comfortable temp with open vents in 20*F weather.
Perfect for a storm day in the PNW
I got these pants because I needed a good storm pant. Warm and waterproof were the two major things I was looking for. Specifically in the Pacific North West, we get the wet heavy snow, and there's nothing worse than having your pants soak thru on a cold, wet day! I went up in size because I like to have extra room in my ski pants for layers. The pants have an adjustable waist and belt loops. I was able to adjust my waist to the perfect size because of this, but had more room for adding layers and free movement by going up in size. They are perfect! The mustard color is fun and I'm easy to spot on the mountain!
Great product, Not accurate sizing
Overall love the pants themselves. Got the garnet/maroon ones, color is really pretty. Vents, insulation, belt loops all perfect. Only problem, the sizing is very off. I’m a solid XL in outdoor/snow gear, never with issue and follow measurements. I fit in these but tight, hips and bum area small for an XL and short main zipper. disappointed in fit. Would recommend but tell anyone to order at least +1 size than normal sizing.
Perfect fit
This is my third pair of North Face Freedom ski pants... the only reason I have 3 is because the first pair I bought in 2011 and they don’t fit anymore but are still in good condition. And the 2nd and 3rd are just because I wanted one blue pair and one black. I just received the black pair and they fit perfectly. I love how their flattering in the butt area (which is hard to do in ski pants!) but I also like how they fit perfectly over my ski boots or snow boots. I do wear them with a pair of leggings underneath and they’re really comfortable!
love these
I wear these for winter hikes. I love the level of comfort and warmth the provide. The pockets are a good size and the zipped vents are a great feature. I only wish they had the metal look that you connect to your boots. Otherwise, a great product.
The PERFECT snow pants!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these snow pants for skiing and other snow sports this year and they are amazing! You really can't go wrong with The North Face snow pants. For reference, I am 5'3" 125 lbs and I ordered a size small, regular length. They fit really well with base layers on, the length is perfect, and the waist fits really nice. They have almost a mid-rise waistline, which is so awesome for sports. They also have an elastic waistline with adjustable straps as well, so you can make the waist fit even tighter if necessary. They are very durable and have kept me very warm on the handful of times I have used them already. Overall, these are the perfect snow pants!
I love these pants!
These pants fit perfectly! I was nervous ordering online, as our ski trip is less than a week away- but these arrived quickly, and met my expectations. I'm 5'8" and 122 lbs., I ordered a size S Long. They fit well around the waist, and the velcro belt is adjustable to make them perfectly snug. There is room for a base and mid layer if I need them, but the insulation feels pretty warm. I'm super happy with them. I'm so glad that I ordered directly from North Face, because the other online stores did not show Long length as an option. The extra length on these is wonderful. I'm used to my pants coming up super high on my ski boots.
Warm, Stylish, Comfortable - As Always Expected
I'm amazed how fast I received my pants: ordered Sunday night and I received it Wednesday morning during busy holiday season. It is great because I need it this weekend to ski with my kids. The product is good quality, stylish design, great construction, very bright and warm red color. The insulation is light but warm enough. The lining is in the red color too to make it like a design pants. The outside material is soft but strong enough for snow days. The nice design of this pants is there is a curve from hips to waist which is great for someone like me have large hips but thin waist. Overall, it is a very good buy.
Seams ripped after only a few wears
The entire seam from front to back on the inside has ripped open after only a few wears of light riding. The seams on the inside of the leg vents have also started ripping/opening. The insulation is exposed and coming out. I tried to sew it back together but the pants are poor quality
