Very comfortable and warm
I’ve had this jacket for about a month now. Have worn while skiing about 4 times. It’s has kept me toasty and is very comfortable. It is not bulky or restricting

Warm, but material wears very poorly
This jacket is warm and I’ve received compliments on the color. However... the material was a poor choice. Within a few wears, the cuffs were pilling. I’ve had it for about three and a half months and the inside of the right sleeve is completely pilled, exacerbated by the rough side of the Velcro that secures the fabric covering the zipper. My months-old jacket looks like I’ve had it for 7 years.

Stunningly Disappointed

I want to preface this review by saying I am a long-time buyer and loyal customer of The North Face products. I am accustomed to all TNF products to be of high quality. Within a month of wearing this jacket the material started to erode along the sleeves, the seam came out of one of the sleeves, and the inside of the pockets got thrashed from carrying my keys (see pics). I’d also like to add that I am not hard on my things and did not trash the jacket. Probably one fall/slide down a slope would tear up this jacket. I returned it, heartbroken.

Love/hate

This is my third The North Face tri-climate jacket I've owned. My other two have lasted well over 7 and 10 years respectively. I purchased this on Friday for a ski weekend. By Sunday, the right sleeve was covered in snags from the velcro. Apparently, the fabric cannot withstand the velcro. I will be unfortunately returning the jacket. It's a beautiful color and great fit but just bad quality.

Not enough pockets. Boring colors

Just one chest pocket? Not enough. By contrast, an Obermeyer jacket has 4 chest pockets plus 2 handwarmer pockets, for a total of 6 outer pockets. I need to store my camera, 2-way radio, handkerchief, chapstick, skigee, trail map, a small screwdriver set, a whistle, a compass, a cable-lock, a facemask (for those really cold days), a sandwich (for lunch), an energy bar, and a few more odds and ends. Colors are mostly muddy. We need brighter colors bright red, bright blue, bright yellow. Also, the colors are boring, with no accent colors. A combination of bright blue and bright yellow would be great. Or maybe bright red and a contrasting black.

damaged after one wash

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Some area is completely damaged after one wash. I can't believe the water-proof material is of such bad quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good for winter and spring, loved the color combination but the outer jacket texture quality is not fine.

It does the job of keeping me warm.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wearing this jacket this 2020-21 season to ski in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. Overall, it's a nice jacket-warm, sheds water well, good barrier against the wind. The cut/fit isn't my favorite though. It hangs to my mid hip and sometimes bunches up when I need to bend over requiring me to pull it back down. Not a fan of the Velcro on the front zipper closure. Seems cheap and snags my balaclava. Doesn't always stay closed. Don't understand why snaps weren't used. It has a nice size hood that can fit over a helmet when the wind is really bad. It does the job of keeping me warm. Don't think I would purchase this style again.

some good features but overall disappointing

Two big problems: What's good - inner warm jacket zips out. What's not good: 1. One-way only zipper makes no sense for this kind of jacket. 2. Hood adjustment is mechanism is totally inaccessible inside the hood. So you can NOT tighten the hood. Unacceptable at this price from this brand.

Not warm enough for my standards

For being two layers, this coat isn't very warm at all for a northern winter. Maybe they've improved it but I got a 3-in-1 like this about 3 years ago and it doesn't feel much warmer than a heavier jacket, even with both layers! Also, at the time, they had more limited sizes and I got the largest size and it feels restricting. I probably needed a larger size, but it wasn't offered at the time. At least they have more size options now. I just purchased a Northface parka and it seems much warmer so far. The sizes are more friendly also. So, if you're looking for warmth, sorry to say, but this one isn't the real deal.
