so glad I bought this
although current reviews aren't quite good, I took a chance. and glad I did! I'm already pretty small (5'1 petite built) so when I read the reviews that the jacket ran small I thought I would give it a try amd ot fits perfect. I have a short torso and 32 chest size. it already comes with a detachable fleece liner so I wouldn't need to layer too much with it, but I still have room for a sweater and my arms aren't constricted. I love the details too.. thumb straps. cell phone pocket. under arm vents. detachable fleece lining with in and out pockets. key pocket on sleeve. inside shell pockets. high neck. hood. waterproof. windproof. inside waist cinch. and even has straps to hook onto pant belt loops. I hope this helps!

Runs Small
Was really hoping I would love it, but I am not able to wear much under it, besides one layer of thermals. I like to have a hooded sweatshirt or something on as well. If I go up a size, it will be too long in the sleeves. So typical, since I'm only 5'3", 120lbs. It's always a struggle to find something that fits in my body or waist and isn't too long on my arms or legs. Unfortunately, I have to return this one, too. It's a very nice jacket, and seems like it would be warm, but it doesn't have much give.

Great style runs small

This was tight in the upper arm. I’m five feet and 110 pounds and bought a small. I wish it would have fit me.

fit and finish, not for wet conditions

This review is for the fit and quality of this jacket. When I received the jacket I was immediately impressed with the quality feel and finish of the jacket. It appears to be very well made with lots of nice touches. The fabric is unique and the plum color is great! I could go feature by feature but suffice it to say, all of the points listed on the description of this jacket are on point. It is well made and well thought out. I put it on and it was exactly what I was looking for - substantial, warm, sturdy with lots of pockets. I like the height of the chin guard, the hood gives full coverage and the inner jacket is warm and cute on its own. I'm a big fan of 3-in-1 jackets for the versatility and traveling (but not backpacking) - you can wear the liner on the plane and pack the shell. I love this jacket. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection of the hangtag, its waterproof rating is 10,000 and the little chart on the tag only shows that in the middle range of waterproofness. I did more research and found that 10K is good for light rain with low pressure and average snow. Darn. I'm replacing another brand of jacket that has finally worn out and I know the conditions I want this jacket to stand up to... I plan on using for snowshoeing BUT, I've encountered windy, wet conditions many times on our ventures up mountains and into the Sierra snow. Light, low pressure rain and average snow coverage isn't going to cut it for me. In summary, I really love this jacket and WISH it had a higher waterproofness rating so I could keep it. Unfortunately, I will return it and look for something that will withstand heavy rain and harsher conditions.

Quality in Mind. I'm an

Quality in Mind. I'm an avid snowboarder. I have owned many boards, coats, gloves, boots, goggles, etc. I currently own an older smarty coat and love it. 686 has done their homework on their coats. The zippers zip down, while that may sound dumb, often times the wind will tug at the zipper depending on how fast you ride. This design has kept everything in my pockets since I have owned the jacket. The material is very weather resistant and warm. 686 knows how to make a quality coat.

Wow, each year 686 gets

Wow, each year 686 gets better and better. The quality of this jacket is great. Pockets are placed thoughtfully, venting is easy to use, the hood set up is perfect for keeping your neck warm when the hood is down. The liner jacket is really attractive on its own and I get a ton of compliments on it. This is one of those jackets that will probably last forever and I will love it forever.

Great warm jacket!!

Great style, hugs the curves. Love that it is 2 coats in one. Last 686 jacket I had lasted 13 years, since then it seems as though there are improvements in material. I loved my old jacket and I am sure I will love this one for 13+ years.
