High quality gloves
These are really nice looking, high quality gloves. Unfortunately, they are too big for me (I vary between small and medium in gloves, went with medium for these and they were too big) so I am unable to say how they truly form, but they look great - very sleek! - and feel very comfortable!
Great mittens
Nice and simple design. I got the black ones which coordinate with all my clothes ;-) Quality material. Light weight, easy to get on and off, really comfortable, with room to add liners. Wrist loops to prevent losing them while on the lift! Long cuffs can go over or under my jacket and stay in place. Easy to get in and out of ski pole straps. Skied and hiked wearing them on 25-30°F days, I wish they were a bit warmer, but I always run on the chilly side.
Warm and waterproof
It is finally cold enough to wear my mittens, unfortunately we still don't have any snow. I decided to try them out for cold and wet working around my horses. They are very warm - my fingers were about frozen in my work gloves, they thawed out nicely when I put the mittens on. I tested the waterproof aspects while filling the stock tank. I completely submerged each hand in the 100gal tank - they are absolutely waterproof. I accidentally went past the cuff and got water inside and I can say that they were perfectly dry in a couple hours on my glove dryers. I do believe they may run a bit large. I have large hands for a woman and I'm swimming in the mediums. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the long cuffs. I know that they are meant to keep snow out. However, jacket sleeves also have the cuffs and I feel that all these cuffs fight for real estate on my wrists.
Wonderfully comfy, warm mittens
While I have been hoping to put these mittens to good use we have barely gotten snow thus far this winter. I wore them to shovel the light dusting we had recently but that's it. These mittens seem very warm and super comfortable. I am looking forward to wearing them skiing and ice skating when it gets cold and snowy enough to do these things. I think the snow cuff will be great. Keeping my fingers crossed. Think snow!
Great gloves but check the seams
These gloves are fantastic for really cold and wet weather. I've used these for snowshoeing, winter backpacking, and for just playing in the snow with the dog when it's snowing outside. They have enough room for mid-weight gloves to fit underneath but are also warm enough to be worn solo down to about 30 degrees. My only issue was that one of the seams leaked on the outside of the left glove. This was not a deal breaker with a bit of seam sealing. Overall these are great but really inspect the seams before getting them wet
Very comfortable!
I used these mittens out on a cold day snowboarding at Winter Park, CO. They definitely kept my hands super warm! The material is really flexible and soft, so you can feel what you’re doing when trying to when working with bindings, or anything else. However because of this, I wonder how the durability will hold up with this activity (hand dragging with turns). I think they’d be really wonderful for lower-impact sports or general day-to-day use, but time will tell for the durability with boarding. I wear a women’s medium glove and would recommend a small in this unisex model. Another thing that could be improved is the wrist strap - the cinch mechanism is pretty loose, and I wouldn’t trust it as well as some other designs. All around, these are a great mitten that are super warm and comfortable, however there are a couple improvements and I don’t think they’d be worth the high price tag. Would probably pay half of what they cost.
Smart design and really warm
I almost always wear gloves, but when I do wear mittens, its when I really need them. The Arc’teryx Fusion Mittens accomplished this! After a long day of skiing in freezing temperatures, I decided to throw off my gloves and try these mittens on. They warmed my hands and kept them nice and comfortable without being sweaty and sticky. They also seemed extremely durable; I wore them cutting and splitting firewood. As usual, Arcteryx thinks of everything like the carabiner strap and the on/off adjuster. I would recommend this product to a friend!
A solid choice in a crowded market.
Pros: Warmth Waterproofing Dexterity (for a mitten) Cons: Price Wrist Keeper Cuff Best uses: Resort skiing Ice climbing belay These are a good choice for a medium-high warmth waterproof mitt. These aren’t as warm as the OR Alti Mitts or the BD Absolute Mitts, but they are warm enough for almost any conditions in the lower 48. The gloves are definitely high quality, and the Arc’teryx quality control is apparent. The stitching is better than most other brands, which helps with the waterproofing. The mitts have a really nice feel on the hands, and the fit is great (at least for my hands). They don’t feel stiff, and they are easy enough to belay in, operate carabiners, and hold poles or ice axes. I also have the Fission gloves, and the mitts definitely hold their waterproofing better. My biggest complaints have to do with the wrist part of the mitt. The keeper strap is adequate, but it can be difficult to tighten, and it isn’t confidence inspiring. Hestra makes a much better wrist strap for their gloves and mitts. The cuff is the other problem. It’s a deep cuff (it rides pretty far up the forearm) relative to other mitts in the same tier, but it’s not very wide. The cuff doesn’t easily fit over puffy sleeves, and can become uncomfortable or feel insecure. Snow or rain could creep in if it’s not correctly cinched down, which can be a cuddly process over warmer jackets. Overall, this is a good choice if you have the money to spend on a pair of mitts.
Seem good so far
The limiting factor to my enjoyment of the outdoors in winter is that my hands get too cold. I’ve been looking for a warm pair of gloves or mittens that would keep my fingers warm, and I had tried a good pair of gloves that failed to serve the purpose, so I tried these mittens. They seemed to work well, but I bought them late in the season and so didn’t get to test them in weather any colder than the upper 20’s Fahrenheit. One other good factor is that they are supple enough to not restrict hand movement. I had another pair of mittens that were reasonably warm but they were too stiff and so limited dexterity.
Functional Cold Weather Protection
Great mittens. Hiked 6 miles on 20 degree day and shoveled my driveway in these twice with temperature in single digits and wind chill at -10, out for about 2 hours per shoveling session. I gave these a 4 vs a 5 for two reasons. First you cannot tighten the drawstring which keeps the mittens secured to your arms with the mittens on. Not necessary to tighten, but should be able to tighten with the mittens on. I also noted the mittens were initially snug around my thumb hole area, and this loosened up with use. Concerned with tightness and constriction, but worked itself out. So getting sizing right is key. I really liked the unique cuff fastener and wish the mittens had the same system to secure to your arms. The full leather palms is also a plus for gripping snow shovels or ski poles. I also like the connector at the finger area to clip the mittens to your pack or belt. I wore these mittens with thin gloves on and without, and like the space in the mittens that allow me to move my fingers around, and even bring my thumb into the main mitten area to keep my fingers and thumb warm. Hands stayed warm and dry, stiff wind also did not effect my hands staying warm. A solid piece of winter gear.
