Fits Large

Compared to Arcteryx's last lightly insulated tour jacket, the Airah, this one is not as light, packable or insulated. The Airah fit large for an Arcteryx and this one fits even larger. In the attached photo you can see the XS Airah compared with the XS Shashka. I am 5' 115# 27" waist 37" hip. I generally wear XS in Arcteryx but sometimes wear a SM. I love my Airah jacket and was hoping this one would be comparable.

Hi There, Thank you for reaching out to Arc'teryx with your feedback on the Shashka IS Jacket.   We're sorry to hear that the fit of the Shaska IS did not meet your expectations. We release products and sizes based on the demand from previous years and seasons. We recognize that both the female mountaineering and outdoor communities are growing rapidly, which is something we want to support, and have continually adjusted our design focus to meet a wider range of fits than what was offered in previous seasons.   Thank you for sharing your comments with us though as it will help our product developers and designers who focus on developing female-specific products for future seasons.   If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-866-458-2473 (available Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM PST), one of our representatives would be glad to chat with you. All the best.

Warm jacket, fits great

I've been looking for an insulated ski jacket, and finally settled on the Shashka IS. The insulation is light - sort of a soft, fleecy inside lining - and doesn't add any bulk to the jacket. I'm always cold when I'm out skiing and wore this jacket for the first time last week with a merino base layer and Arcteryx Covert hoody underneath. I skipped the extra down layer I usually wear since this jacket has insulation. For the first time in my life I was HOT - had to open the vents. For reference, I'm 5'4" and 110lbs and ordered an XS. I can fit a base layer and one more layer underneath. I can fit a thin down layer as well and it's comfortable but it's snug at that point. The only thing I don't like is that the snow skirt isn't removable and there's no wrist gaiters.

Great for colder conditions

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I love my Shashka IS. I appreciate the extra warmth the Octa loft insulation provides. It means I can get away with just a base layer on warmer days. On colder days there is still enough room to layer a nice midlayer underneath such as my Atom LT underneath to tackle the coldest conditions. Being almost six feet tall I bought size XL and appreciate the longer length of this jacket. I did find the sleeve length a little shorter compared to other Arc'teryx ski jackets I own though.

Beautiful Jacket

Recently had the most pleasant experience with Arcteryx warranty and customer service, which was more than above and beyond. For this reason alone, you get what you pay for and why I stick with companies like Arcteryx. The new Shashka IS is a bomb-proof jacket that is light as a feather and toasty warm, particularly when layered with an Atom LT and base layer. The color options are great and quality is perfection. Very nice addition to the lineup:) Thanks Arcteryx.

Excellent jacket!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased and used this jacket this ski season and it is the perfect shell. I love it. I layer it with my Atom Lt. jacket and whatever base layer fits the weather and I'm good to go. It's a great jacket and Arc'teryx has the best quality and warranty on their products. So I am a loyal customer.

Good jacket.

Overall great jacket. Only con is the inside pocket is not deep enough and fairly low. Lost phone and wallet while just bending over to buckle boots before skiing, it was not zipped but stuff easily slips out. Different cut for the pocket would be great.

Great jacket!!

Love the pocket placements in the inside the jacket. Took this skiing paired with an atom lt and vertices base layer in a snow storm and it was fantastic. Plus the colors are beautiful as usual with arc’teryx.

I have owned my jacket for several weeks now. I have found it to be excellent when paired with layers for cross country skiing! Paradox is a beautiful color!
