I was back & forth between these & the other cheaper Smartwool base layers. Eventually I went into the store to try both. After reading all the reviews I thought for sure I was going to get the other base layer but it turned out the Intraknit was WAY softer. I am a bit of a oversensory human when it comes to itchy wool on my skin & these do not itch at all. I wear them outside in the Winter for 12+ hours on end & have worn them in negative temperatures. I am usually a Small all around but ended up getting a Small top & Medium bottoms to accommodate for my long legs + a little extra comfort while working outside. Very breathable, I hardly need to wash them! HIGHLY recommend.
I’ve owned several Smartwool baselayers and they’ve performed very well. Their wool is soft and durable. I expected the intraknit to be a higher performance piece. But the first time I wore this as a baselayer a hole developed in the intraknit section on the torso. And I don’t mean that the wool snagged and a hole pulled though, I mean an entire section of the fabric wore through. I also found that the weave of the fabric was generally looser and more prone to snags than other Smartwool products I’ve owned. I give it two stars though because this shirt and pants combo was the best at keeping me at a comfortable temperature and not sweaty.
Wore this snowboarding today and I only needed my shell jacket to keep warm (37F outside). I got an XS and I'm 5'2 and 113 lbs.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just spent 4 days in a +/- single digit winter wonderland playground and I wore this top for everything! It served as a mid layer for snowboarding, single base layer under a vest for snowshoeing and so cozy to keep on to wear around the cabin/out to eat. It is super warm, light, soft and long (great for an added layer of warmth on the tushy while sitting on the chairlift!) I love the pomegranate color, I got lots of comments on how bright & cheery it is. #smartwoollove
Not happy w/intraknit. 1st off, it smells odd. Washed it 3 times before wearing. Wore, washed twice more. Still smells faintly The fabric is uncomfortable. This blend here, that blend there makes it pull funny & feels different all over. Because of the intrKnot wool the front shows white thru it in streaks & looks like deoderant wipes I will never buy this awful mixed fabric ever again. I do NOT reccommend it, unless your skin has no feeling. Smart Wool, please dont stop making your 100% Merino
I'm cold natured and where a lot of base layers (wool socks every day, kind of gal), and wear layers as my primary travelling garb. The Smartwool Women's Intraknt Merino 200 Crew Base Layer top kept warmed me when I needed it, and kept me "cool" when it was a bit "too warm" on the airplane. The material is comfy, sleek and stylish. Black goes with everything. Good rating over great because the Medium was too long in arms and torso, and too narrow in body, for my petite 5'3" frame.
Comfortable top for layering, for hiking, skiing etc. and stylish enough to wear on its own casually. I’ve even slept in it, the merino wool does a great job keeping your temperature just right, I was not too hot or cold. This top fits like a true next-to-skin base layer, it is fitted. I wear a small in most tops but I usually get a medium in the more fitted style base layers because I like to wear them as regular shirts sometimes. I’m 5’2 35” chest 28” waist for reference, and the medium was a more comfortable and versatile everyday fit for me.
Smartwool's new Intraknit base layer technology is awesome. The fabric transitions seamlessly between the different knitted zones. The top is close fitting, and seemed to run small at first, but then I realized how stretchy it is and that it was amply sized. The sleeves do run long. The fabric can be slightly see through, and it would not be the most stylish shirt on its own. I found the top to be comfortable, warmer than expected, and breathable. It was comfortable for sleeping, as well as under a pack. It has held its shape with repeated wearings better than my other wool tops. With 45% polyester, it seemed to dry slightly faster than 100% wool, though that is just an impression, not an official test. I can also see the fabric being potentially more durable that 100% wool base layers, but only time will tell.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quality is outstanding. I can compare to x bionic base layer nothing less. Feels soft and comfy. Fits body almost perfect. I'm 5'6 125 athletic hourglass 34 DD and size s is excellent. A bit see through but doesn't bother me or people around me. Very warm. I mean VERY warm, the warmest wool I've ever tried. Highly recommend. Definitely will buy again and will recommend to my friends.
Warm weather baselayer. Worn on several summer camping trips in Colorado. Lightweight material; not overly warm. Runs small. I usually wear a small, but ordered a medium in the hopes it would be a little looser fitting, but the fit was snug. The material was thin; you can definitely see through it.
