Too many problems to recommend
For the price of this jacket I expect a lot better. Here are the issues: 1. The DWR coating is terrible. I'm in Colorado, so it's generally pretty dry even when snowing, and this jacket wets out with basically any amount of snow. I have Flylow pants that do the same thing. 2. Material seems robust but actually wears through quite easily. I have less than a season on this jacket and you can see the white waterproof membrane in many spots. It seems particularly susceptible to wear from edges. I've had many jackets and this is the only one that's ever worn out where I carry my board. I'm not abusive with it and indeed I'm very careful realizing (obviously) the edges are sharp. Just standard board carrying that you have to do. Nonetheless the membrane is poking through in multiple spots. 3. Advertised as "stretch" but absolutely not. This is stiff fabric and not very comfortable. 4. Weird Fit. I'm usually a M or L depending on the brand. With this jacket the M is super tailored, and actually an awesome fit for around town, but turns out is a little restrictive for me for snowboarding and the sleeves are a bit short. The L is like two sizes bigger and super boxy without the sleeves getting much longer. I went with the M thinking maybe the stretch would start happening. It never did and I regret the sizing error. Also for boarding the short sleeves on this are really annoying when you reach for your bindings. (compared to Helly Hansen for example who really seems to get that part right.) I will say the Storm color is nice and I like the pocket layout. But I would not buy this again. Live and learn.
My go to shell
This thing can handle it all. I’ve skied into trees and slid over dirt and rocks and it hasn’t ripped or anything. Super burly. I used it mostly in resort skiing and snowmobiling. However, it breathes enough that I also took it up the Grand Teton among lots of other hikes. Had it for a season now and it still almost looks like new, so I’m not planning on purchasing a new jacket anytime soon
The only jacket you need
This jacket is bomb proof. Between backcountry missions, snowmobiling, and everyday resort use, I ride 100-130 days a year and this jacket is always ready for more. It is extremely comfortable, durable, and the most important, stylish af. Would highly recommend.
Quality at first take
Quick take after purchase Looks like a well made 3 layer shell Good fit. Good hood/up or rolled down, Good detail work on seams/ Seems well made Wills add deets after more field use
Couldn't get more durable
I skied over 150 days in this jacket with 0 tears and it is still super water proof. It can ward off a rainstorm after a lot of abuse. Couldn't recommend more
