Super lightweight, warm, and comfy

After buying and returning several boots, an REI employee recommended these. They are not the best good looking boots, but they are extremely comfy. Very soft on the inside and no break in period is needed. The sole is fantastic on wet terrain. I'm usually size 11 on Altra Escalante, Clarks, Born, Merrell, Keen, and these Salomon's boots were not the exception. Morning outside temperature in the last two days, 28 degrees F and my feet have been warm and dry. Give them a try.

Jackson, Wyoming Tested

I wore these shoes outside on the ramp in the Jackson Hole winter for 40 hours a week. I put them through the wringer as I was walking on average 32 - 40 miles a week and lifting 5K - 8K lbs a day. They were comfortable, warm, and waterproof --> pretty much all I needed. - Comfort range for me was from 5 - 25 degrees. Anything hotter and my feet would sweat. - Durability: This was one of the downsides for me, but considering the abuse I put them through I was very happy. - Sizing: True to size In the end, these have to be some of the best winter boots in the business. Thanks Salomon for making a great shoe!

Awesome Cold Weather Mid Boot

These are exactly what they’re advertised to be. They look great with a pair of jeans and flannel in the city grabbing a drink with the girlfriend on the weekend but can also be a superb cold weather “tactical” or work boot. They do get warm so make sure it’s chilly out when you wear them. Very flexible. Super light. Feels like wearing a sneaker. True to size. I would buy again. 2 thumbs up!

A good light weight boot for winter

I purchased these boots for winter use and for walking aroung ski resorts. I have not tried them in the snow and ice yet so hope that the grip is better than a normal boot. They are very warm and the waterproofing appears to be very good. These boots are much lighter than expected which is a bonus, I was expecting a hiking weight boot. Time will tell how hard wearing they are, the material appears to be quite soft in construction. I would not recomend these if you are going to be hiking any distance. Also as other reviews have stated the laces are very thin and it is hard to get good tension on them when lacing up. overall though, a good boot for genaral use in wet or cold snowy weather.

Almost great with a fatal flaw

I tried these but ultimately they were not great. Loved the front foot fit, as well as the light weight and flexibility. It’s wonderful to find that in a winter hiking boot. However, the top lace hooks are poorly anchored to a flexible piece of the boot, and the angle that it tightens at means that the boot does not lock in the heel, and the lace hooks rotate and get pulled by the laces when you tighten. Imho this boot needs a redesign on the upper ankle area - it needs a better set of lace hooks, maybe a second set as well. By moving them as well as where the laces come from before being run through the lace hooks, Salomon coild fox the issue. Otherwise these are a fail for me unfortunately.

Water resistant, not waterproof

(Purchased 27/11/24). Nice warm boots, good inner fleece. Study outsole and ok grip on the trails. The biggest issue I came across (in my experience) is the upper as it is not waterproof. It got wet in the rain unfortunately and did soak through. It did take the rain a while to seep in but if you plan on being out all day in wet weather in these then they won’t keep your feet dry. As I got these on sale I’m relatively ok with this purchase but if I would of paid full price for these I would of been disappointed.

Comfortable hybrid winter boot/shoe

Fits true to size. Very lightweight and athletic for a winter boot. I use for day hikes and disc golf. Good for winter hikes around the city or parks. Great if you're looking for a winter boot that's light enough to move around some miles in through the snow. If you're doing some heavy duty labor all day long in frigid temperatures I would opt for a more heavy duty boot as these insulated but only to a moderate amount and are designed for speed and comfort first.

Really nice looking shoes with a small problem

Wore these for an entire day in the rain. My feet were comfortable and dry all day. I can't deny that these shoes not only look awesome, but they do what they are advertised to do! The only problem is the shoelace. The top of the shoes kept coming undone. The little loop that the shoelace passes over before tying seemed too big for the thin laces used in these shoes. When walking I had them come undone several times...super annoying to try to tie wet shoelaces!

look good, waterproof, modification lacking..

Flat lacing system is awkward and works loose. The newly designed tongue is awkward. Both boots make a popping sound when I walk. They did look good, were waterproof and relatively warm while I perservered with them before putting them in the bin. Can't say it's my feet being at fault having had Salomon for more years than I care to remember but sadly they are not what they used to be which seems to be echoed elsewhere by other long term users...
