I tried both these and the thermal weight base layers and was pretty disappointed with both. These are really low rise. They didn't even fully cover my butt even though they were the right size everywhere else. Once I got them on, I found it difficult to bend my knees and the material wasn't very comfortable against the skin at all. I don't know how you could do anything active in them like skiing or snowshoeing. I tried the size up and they were just baggy everywhere and didn't work under jeans/tighter pants (and still were weirdly low rise). I can't wear wool, so these were kinda my last hope for high quality base layers to keep me warm. Super disappointed!
I bought a size medium and they were a little loose in the legs and big around the waist. I am 5’8” and weight about 140 lbs. My waist is around 28” and hips around 39”. These pants probably would have been better if I had ordered a size smaller. Also they were not full length for me, they went down to about my ankles.
These are very comfortable, but being a cold sleeper they didn't seem to keep me as warm as I had hoped. They feel like a lightweight layer. Maybe I just need to go for heavy weight. Also, a hole is already in the crotch and I've worn only 3 times. Unfortunately, will be returning.
I was hesitant to buy these with some of the negative reviews. But, I just wore these skiing under my snow pants in 28° weather with some wind. They were great! They kept their shape. I have struggled finding a base layer that I like that doesn’t stretch out after one use. Size was as expected. Yes, they sit just below my belly button and go just above my ankles, but I had no problem with that. I loved these so much, I ordered the thermal weight to wear in colder conditions. I got a size large. I am 5’10 and 175 pounds.
I bought these thinking I was getting a second pair of my much loved Patagonia Capilene Thermal Weight Long Underwear Bottoms, but I was mistaken. In addition to the temperature difference, the waistband of these tights is narrow and elastic, so it's tighter than the non-elastic waistband of the Thermal Weight tights, which I find more comfortable and much prefer. In terms of warmth, these kept me cozy under jeans on a freezing evening walk with my dog.
Love these long underwear! Playing in the yard with the kids under snow pants, under soft shell pants for winter hiking and under XC ski pants on colder days, I feel like I practically live in these and have to time when I wash them. Time for a second pair. I am a size 4, 125lbs, 5’7” with slim hips and the S fits me great!
The pattern was cute but it fits low waisted. I prefer high waisted fit. I'm 5'3 weigh 135lbs, ordered size small. Usually wear size 6-8 in pants or size 28.
Material too thick, waist band too stiff and short, overall length too short. A "Base Layer" implies under clothes. Seems instead to be marketed as a leggings to compete with outerwear. The basic Patagonia base layer of about 8 years ago 2014 when they came rubber-banded around a piece of cardboard was perfect.
The fabric is lightweight and smooth and I like the flat waistband, but the length is too short for me, reaching several inches above my ankles. Will be returning them. The size chart has a footnote that says that actual measurements for garments may vary from the chart, and that was the case here. Instead of a 32" inseam, it is 28.5", per my measurement from the crotch down.
These are okay. I had to size up, usually a small, but those were skin tight, so I went with a medium. I'm 5'6" and 140 lbs. They are so short! They hit about 2 inches above my ankles. Like other reviewers said, they are not stretchy at all. I'm keeping them because the pattern is super cute and I can wear them under other pants with tall socks, but I'm disappointed.
