The Dusky Brown color is a lot prettier in person than what the website shows, in my opinion. It is a mauve leaning toward brown. The coat is extremely comfortable. I was happy that the closures on the outside zipper protector are snaps instead of velcro. There is NO VELCRO on the coat. It is a nice weight and very warm, with an inside zippered pocket. The outside zippered pockets are placed so that I can easily put my hands in them, and they are lined with a soft, warm material. The hood is comfortable, not bulky. I am 5'4 at 125 lbs curvy wearing sz 28 jeans. The Medium is perfect, the small was too snug at the bust.
I finally was able to wear this in Chicago winter weather. Very disappointed. The sleeves are barely long enough and really could use cuffs to avoid cold air getting in. I can deal with that, but after 5 minutes of walking in sleet, there were water marks. They dry up, but it looks like the burgandy coat has black marks all over. Could just be me, but it was actually somewhat embarrassing. I would suggest getting it in black.
This parka replaces a North Face coat I had for many years. I love it! It is superwarm and the pockets, unlike the North Face are in the right place: the hand pockets are low enoght to put my hands in easily when it is cold and big enough for an large iPhone to fit. The North Face pockets were higher and too small for my phone. In addition, the inside pocket is higher so I don't have to unzip the coat as much to reach a key or whatever I might have in there. The one on the North Face was lower so I had to unzip the coat halfway to get anything out of that pocket, not convenient at all when it was freezing cold. I couldn't be happier with this coat.
This jacket is so warm! I've had the jacket about a week and wore it in weather that got down to -10 with wind and so far it's been great. It is worth noting that I live in a dry place, so I'm not sure how this jacket would do with wet weather. The zippers, hood, pockets, lining, etc are all well made and functional. I think this jacket is about as warm as you can get for this style in this price range. I'm 5'6, 155lbs with an athletic build and the small fits great. I do like things to be more fitted, but I can still wear a thick sweater or light fleece/sweatshirt underneath.
One of the warmest jackets I've ever purchased. I live where winters last about 7 months and this jacket definitely kept me warm. Unfortunately, within the first 2 weeks of owning the jacket, the snap buttons on the lower, outside of the jacket broke off. This exposed some of the down. I rarely wore this jacket on the trails, so I was surprised with the light wear how easily the buttons broke. Also, I got the topsoil color and it shows all stains on the sleeves. I recommend getting a darker color if purchasing this jacket. Overall, a great jacket, but do not recommend it if you plan on hiking or wearing it every day. I will be returning it and purchasing a jacket that will last me multiple seasons.
Great, but only if Patagonia makes a few chages to this coat. On the positive side, it is very warm, great quality material, waterproof. The fit is not bulky (it's flattering). Negative, the zipper has broken 2 times. Although Patagonia will repair it, it was very inconvenient having to go without a coat while they do, for several weeks in the coldest part of winter! Second, the hood and neck are irregular -it is narrow in the neck when zipped all the way up, but when zipped all the way up with the hood on, it has a gapping hole at the top and laps over my eyes.
i bought this jacket last year and i love it! it’s warm enough for nyc winter (a lot of time outside), it fits well and the buttons snap easily and stay closed without zippering. i love that the zipper goes up from the bottom for a partial zip. the inside pocket is great and can hold my phone and wallet. the outside pockets are warm with great zippers. i plan on keeping this jacket for a long time and believe it will hold up in quality and classic design. highly recommend!
I just purchased this beautiful soft cozy warm coat at our local REI. The fabric feels like high end sleeping bag fabric and the knee length contributes to the cozy warmth. I don't think I would take this camping or wear for heavy duty outdoor work - but for cold weather walks and feeling warm and attractive in town and day to day - it's wonderful. Dusky Brown color is also surprisingly lovely, and a nice change from black. I take a size L in North Face coats, and the large in this coat was perfect. Combine with a nice merino or cashmere underlay to keep the warmth and tailored look going.
The Patagonia Down With It Parka was a GORGEOUS coat. I loved the magenta color I had, and I really liked how it fell all the way to my knees. It felt like I was wearing a blanket! It was also very comfortable. Unfortunately, I didn't really find it that warm. When it was around freezing and windy, I felt the chill come straight through the arms, and found myself always needing to wear a hoody underneath to truly keep warm, so I took it back. Great coat for a place with mild winters, but probably not for any serious weather.
I loved this coat but sadly I had to return it because after wearing it only a handful of times one of the plastic buttons popped off pit of nowhere and it left a hole and down was coming out. Very warm and stylish though, I couldn’t feel any cold air cutting though the material! Love the long length. For how much it costs, I feel as though Patagonia could use metal buttons and zippers instead of plastic.
