Quality tire. Puncture resistance is minimal. Black reflect is barely visible only with direct light and much less than normal reflection strip. Good, if you are looking for a good quality basic tire in size 700x35.
I put these on my hybrid bike for daily commute. After about 2000 miles and a little over a year I started having flats and I can see tears along the treads. I only ride on pavement. Considering their price, the fact that they’re handmade in Germany, and compared to the original tires that came with the bike which lasted about 4 years, I had to give this tire a 1 star due to very poor long term quality.
I haven't been able to find any reviews of this tire online, which is too bad because there really isn't much bad I can say about it. Although it is marketed for fixies, I have these on my geared commuter and have put about a thousand miles on them through downtown Atlanta. They are plenty fast, plenty of grip when it rains, lightweight. There's not really anything I dislike about them other than they aren't tubeless. I haven't had a flat in 1000 miles, so there's that. There's not very many 35mm+ slick tires out there, so I'm glad this is available. Rides like a nice lightweight road tire, but still tough enough for a commute. This is a nice balance of features.
Rolls exceptionally well to keep pace with 25 or 28 mm roadies on the flats. Cornering grips even on damp asphalt. Amazing flat protection. Passed directly over bottle glass pieces and not a single cut. Handling on wet and winter debris without incident. I’m buying another set as spares. Impressed with 70 psi and still comfortable. I had Compass Bon Jon at 45 - 50 psi, but too many flats and got about 4,000 mi. I do miss the gum wall classic look, but the all black matches my wheels too. The Urban is a better value vs $70 Bon Jons.
Replaced a heavier tire, I have Armor tire inserts, lot of protection from flats, these roll nice!
I switched to these tires from Schwalbe Marathons because I wanted something lighter and with less rolling resistance. With over a year of usage and over 1000 miles so far, the Urban option provides a much faster tire with good puncture resistance. Just finished an overnight bicycle tour in Arizona, passed over an area with some unavoidable broken glass, had an unplanned gravel portion, and had no flats. Continental got a good balance with these tires.
I bought these to replace gravelkings that were worn through on my commuter. I am very disappointed, especially for a product from continental. 1) they're really hard to mount, even though they're not marketed as tubeless. I've never struggled like I did with these tires, and this is on a wheelset I've mounted wire-bead studded tires and multiple sets of GP4seasons/gravelkings. You basically have to use levers, and good luck keeping your tube intact. 2) puncture resistance is somewhere between awful and mediocre. I've had 3 slow punctures from little bits of glass and 2 big punctures from pinch flats in <300 miles. 3) they roll pretty fast, I guess. Not good commuter tires but maybe on some frankenstein road bike that can fit 35mm. Who are these for? I recommend looking elsewhere.
Simply did not last. Decent for hooking up to the indoor training wheel, bu that's about it
