Innovative soft flask carrier and minor annoyances
This is an innovative compression device for holding an otherwise floppy soft flask, and I use it on most of my runs. On the plus side, there's no sloshing sound, it fits well in my hand, and it gets compacted after you drink the water. It takes some getting used to as you have to pull the cord after nearly every drink or it gets floppy. I deducted one star because the cord slaps me if I don't secure it through the gel holders (designers: please add Velcro to the pull tab to make it easier to secure). Also, the gel holders don't keep gels from flying away at inconvenient times. The bottle lacks a zippered pocket, so I have to keep my ID, keys, and gels somewhere else. Because of the compression sleeve it holds closer to 12 oz of water if you are patient when filling it (tip: use a Nuun tablet to get the bottle to fully inflate for max water).
Fantastic for running!
I'm so thankful to have found this! No sloshing, bottle collapses with each (easy) drink of water, and fluids stay cool since there's a barrier between the bottle and your hand! Straps are comfortable for holding -can hold in a variety of ways. I do not use the drawstring (haven't really taken the time to figure out what it does because the system works well without). Gels stay nicely in the compartments. There's a strap at the bottom that you can slide a finger through once partway through drinking that keeps the system from swaying without holding a tight grip.
Hydraform bottle for Half Marathon
Having never run with a hand held bottle, I tried several styles for a recent half-marathon and chose the Amphipod Hydraform Soft-Tech. I compared with a rigid plastic bottle which I did not like. The water sloshing was annoying while running. I prefer the collapsible soft bottle and found it to be comfortable during my recent half.
