Versatile rack

I purchase this a month ago to support my RTT, kayak and possibly a paddle board. I knew it didn’t come with crossbars, unlike some others, but in comparison to something like the Leitner Designs rack (which retails for $1400+) this Yakima rack doesn’t require any drilling/permanent attachment to the truck bed and in my opinion is more adjustable/customizable. Another bonus is that is compatible with my RetraxOne MX tonneau cover. I’ve put it through quite a bit of use in the last month and so far I like it a lot. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an adjustable and easily removable rack system for their truck.

Not a rack

You can't call this a rack if it doesn't come with cross bars. Should call it HD Bed Towers. So when its all said and done you will be spending over $1,000. Just go ahead and package them together and have the three lengths with three different prices; is that so hard?

Failed overlander rack

After less than 1 yr of being installed on my F150.ive had the rack shift twice. 1st time it shifted after some light overlanding resulting in my awning damaging my truck cab. So i disassembled and adjusted again to manufacturer install guidance. Then on my next overlanding it shifted again, so i took it off. I wouldve returned but i was past the return limit. I think if you use the bed cover with the Yakima track rails it would work better and not shift. But if youre just installing it to your bed i would recommend other alternative that have less adjustments to line up when installing.

Yakama Poor Bed Rack Quality

Yakama bed rack quality is absolutely terrible. The racks are painted (not powder coated) and the paint is paper thin, missing in many locations, scratched and dented in many areas too. The bolts are rusted, many of the bolt security pins are bent or missing and several washers are the wrong size preventing installation on the inner upright holes. The provided allen wrenches do not fit many of the bolts. I do not recommend this rack system.

Expensive - but the best option

Works great on my Jeep Gladiator. In my opinion its the best adjustable truck rack on the market. . It is expensive and DOES NOT COME WITH CROSS BARS, but its worth every penny if you plan on really using it. I went with 68 in cross bars so i could fit 2 32inch wide paddle boards side by side. Total install was really simple, and all needed tools were included. Yakima has a easy to follow video online as well.

A very well made rack.

This system is really great. I have a 2019 tundra and it fit perfectly. Seems to be extremely heavy duty and the quality is great. It’s not a cheap system and I see great attention to detail in the fit and finish. The welds are prefect with no splatter or porous areas and the coating doesn’t flake or scratch easily. When installing the top cross bars the finish didn’t scratch or discolor where the metal slides together and I couldn’t move the bars at all once they were fastened in place. Overall I’m very happy with this rack and I am glad I spent the money on this one instead of a cheaper one that I looked at. I know the price may be a bit salty for some but after buying this rack I’m glad I went a little extra. In my opinion it’s worth it

Worth the Money - Fully Versatile

These are pricey, but....Fully worth it. I went this route for a few options. I needed to carry kayaks with a truck, but I also need the truck for dirt bikes. I park in a lower clearance gargae and cannot have a rack that sticks up 8" over the height of the truck. With that, this rack is the only one that meets my needs. 1 - Kayak carrying with the rack is great. I have the height adjusted so this sits about 1 inch over the cab of the truck 2 - Dirt bikes - The rear cross bar comes off with 4 screws and in about 2 minutes - easy! 3 - The garage - The height adjustable risers can be set once for the kayak height and I still clear the header on the garage. You do have to pay for it, but no other rack that I am aware of meets all of these, and it looks pretty good too. With Covid - the world is pretty much out of the cross bars. For now, I have them on order, but had to make some wood ones as a temp fix. They work, but it will all look a bit better with the real ones in place. Install of the towers took about 1 hour or so tops. Very well engineered. If you have a Toyota, you are supposed to get a fit kit to work with the bed racks - not in stock anywhere either! I worked around this with pulling the in bed sliders out, trimming them around the feet of the Yakima towers and re-installing them. In my eyes, there was not any point in buying the fit kit as you would lose the slide function where the towers mount too, so a trimmed down rail was the same end result and saved $110 in the process.

No mention of needed Bed Track 1 kit

REI, You seriously need to mention that a Yakima "Bed Track 1" kit is needed if one the OverHaul HD on a newer Toyota/Nissan that have tracked tie-down rails ?! (at another $110.00) I did realize until I received the system and tried to put it on with the included clamps. Figured it out after watching the Yakima You Tube on how to set it up. Your site for this rack does not even have the track kit listed as one of the accessories at the bottom of the page. Please update these omissions to the Yakima OverHaul HD site. Disappointed I have to wait another week to install and use this system.

Amazing Rack

This rack is extremely sturdy (just as advertised). Instructions were very clear and although installation was time consuming, it was very easy. As with any rack system the bars are obviously sold separately to allow the user to decide on bar length (as told in product description). Overall I love this rack! Works perfect to my RTT, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards!
