- Rotational motion can cause brain injuries; with MIPS, a low-friction layer slides 10-15mm in all directions, reducing rotational motion to the brain during impact
- Lightweight and durable EPP foam absorbs additional impact
- Fully ventilated design helps maintain cool comfort in warm weather
- Lightweight, adjustable chin strap fits securely
- Built-in, low-profile visor

Great helmet
Purchased this helmet for ski mountaineering and alpine climbing. Very light and comfortable. Adjustments are easy for accommodating a visor underneath. Adds almost no weight to my pack, and I hardly notice I'm wearing it. Retention system for headlamp/goggles is simple and easy to use (something you definitely notice if you've used wonky systems before). Haven't tested the protection but the important thing is that I'll actually bring it and wear it. I used to take my old helmet off and store it on my pack at every opportunity, which is I why I made the decision to replace it with something I'll actually keep on my head.

nice fitting well thought out helmet
I wanted a helmet that was safe, well as safe as I could be, I took a chance with the mips as it was the first of its kind, the fitment is exactly as stated, the helmet vents well, I have put multiple day long climbs on this helmet and it performed well, I bumped my head on a over hang hard enough to say well I'm glad I got a helmet, nothing done to helmet, headlamp attachment is nice feature, great helmet that hasn't let me down,
Super light, strong and comfortable
I upgraded from the non-MIPS version after being very impressed with it and using it regularly for a number of years. This updated version is no heavier in real feel and fits so easily. The back strap is low-profile enough to not get caught on hair, rope, or hoods and apparel. The hard outer is perfect as it's right where rock and ice will hit when belaying or climbing up. The gaps at the back give great ventilation on hot days and the straps are easily adjustable for putting a hood or hat on underneath on cold days. I've used this for almost 2 years now and its so good that I'll likely just replace with exactly the same again.

Good Investment
This helmet fits great and breathes really well (I'd know, I'm in NM). My only complaint is that the chin straps could be longer, as they barely fit around my head. I'm a big guy though. MIPS is totally worth the $. There's a reason that every other extreme sport uses this technology.
comfortable, lightweight, and durable but adjusting takes getting used to & it moves down sometimes
Overall, I really like this helmet. First of all, I only considered MIPS helmets due to previous personal injuries. In the climbing industry, so far, there's only a few of them as I write this: this one, Smith, and two Black Diamond ones. The Black Diamond Capitan was too heavy for me, and the other Black Diamond was a contender, but in the end, the sizing was off, and even the largest size didn't fit my head well. This Wall Rider MIPS helmet is lightweight, comfortable, and so far, it has been durable. I've used it on 10+ trips over the course of a year, and it hasn't shown wear-and-tear, although the white top has gotten scratches (cosmetic) and is no longer pure white. The only downsides I would say are that the chin strap took me a while to dial down the sizing to where I wanted it (the strap barely covers my ears) and that the helmet sometimes covers part of my eyes if I look down too much, not staying in place. That is annoying when I'm climbing, and sometimes I have to readjust the helmet by pushing it backwards so that it doesn't cover part of my top eyesight.

Performs great.
Overall super lightweight and works great for my go pro. The only thing is my ears sometimes run on the straps even after adjusting.

I was involved in a serious climbing accident early 2020 and any blow to the head could have major consequences, even at a standing level. I decided to go with this helmet because it has the same MIPS technology that helmets from other sports had and I've been very happy with it. It is super lightweight which is important - I wear my helmet ALWAYS after my accident and TBI, even just walking off the objective or walking in extreme tallus on the approach. The helmet adjusts great, I have long thick hair and I have full range of motion to look up while belaying.

MIPS and size
I was originally looking at the BD Vision MIPS but my head is right in the middle of their sizing. The Wall Rider fits better for me and is comparable in most other specs. I have MIPS in my Smith Icon skiing helmet and I learned my lesson a long time ago to get the best helmet available. The only reason I am alive now to write reviews. And while looks are a secondary consideration, I like the Mammut over the BD Vision MIPS which was my second choice and it is also lighter than the Vision. Plenty of good helmets out there. Enjoy!

Lightweight but finicky fit
I love the look and the weight. The strap system is a little weird though. Maybe it's my head shape and ear position but my ears barely make it into the opening, meaning the clips that go under my ears rub against my lobes at times. My sizing is right in the middle of the small size range, so I would expect there to be extra space for larger heads in this range, I feel like I've already maxed out the size range. I've only worn the helmet 2 times at the crag, but I'll keep using it and see how annoying that gets.

Unexpected favorite
I bought this helmet because my old one was 7 years old. My decision was between the Black Diamond Vision MIPS and the Mammut Wall Rider MIPS. The head harness takes a little adjusting to get it just right but overall it fits very well. A few weeks ago my best friend got the Black Diamond Vision MIPS helmet. I was eager to try it on and compare it. Hands down, my helmet has a rich, and plush feel to it. The BD felt cheap and their tightening mechanism seems cheep and unrefined.
