Love Love Love
I have been struggling with another brand of hand strap for a couple of years. I finally had enough and found the reasonably priced Peak Design product. I already have and love the PD travel tripod, so I decided to try the Clutch. I love the Clutch! It fits my Nikon Z8 perfectly and does what I need it to do. It was super easy to install once I watched the short video, and I won’t have to remove it to use the tripod. Another huge deal is that Clutch doesn’t block the battery or memory card doors. Clutch is easy to use and feels very secure. I look forward to having a great experience hand-carrying my camera from now on.
Peak Design Clutch 3.0 Camera Strap
I don’t like my camera hanging on my neck. Instead,I was looking for a camera strap for my Nikon Z 7ii. I have seen really good reviews about this item and I wanted to give it a try. I am a REI member for a long time and I was very happy to see them carrying this item. Instead of big camera store, I rather spend my money at REI. The experience was great and I like the item. It is easy to adjust on the fly. Loosening and tightening of the strap quickly is a difference maker for me. They use a quality material and looks like, it would last a long time. You can find similar items but I used Peak Design products before they stand behind their product. I highly recommend it.
Does the job, but room for improvement.
Mostly love PD products. This one is just OK. The fit on my 3 fingers is good, but strap attachment on the L plate is a bit far forward compared to the attachment on my OM1 mkII so it sits diagonal on my hand. Also, for the life of me I can't figure out why they designed this complicated arca plate attachment accessory instead of just incorporating arca grooves into the plate itself. Someday it would be wonderful to have a tripod plate on my camera and sit flat on a table. Even lens companies have caught onto this and started incorporating arca grooves into their tripod collars. Who knows, maybe they're saving that for version 2 so we can all buy another one.
Excellent hand strap
I've had a battery grip on my DSLR for 20 years. All that I've had before has basic straps that loop around and go through friction adjusters like a standard neck strap. In a hand strap, fractions of an inch make a big difference in the feel. Getting a good fit was tedious and semi-permanent. This Peak Design strap removes all of those negatives. The quick connection is great. The sliding caribener strap lock is quick and easy to loosen and snug down. I can hold my camera without even gripping it while walking around. The quality of materials is great compared to the padded pleather/suede straps I've had in the past. I moved to a mirrorless Canon R7, which doesn't have an available battery grip. The Peak Design mounting plate works perfectly in the optional (recommended by me) clip holster, on my tripods, etc. I know there's not much to it, but I did, and would gladly pay for another one. I'm glad it got this version vs the micro clutch. I'd much rather have a more sturdy strap, and with a full cage and a few heavy EF L lenses it works great. It's also no issue with the uncaged body and small lenses.
Bad for a Sony
Doesn’t sit where you want it in a Sony camera. It slips up over my knuckles if I want to put my hand where it needs to be to use the camera. If I set the geip to be perfect the grip makes me have my hand to far forward to hold the camera grip. Technically it’s not peaks fault. Sony needs to move the metal piece backwards more towards the screen side of the camera so hand grips can be used comfortably. I wouldn’t buy this off you have a Sony. Mine is an A7RIII
Works with OM-3
Much has been written about the flat front and lack of a grip of the "throwback OM-3" . The original OM SLRs were flat and I believe respecting this heritage and the addition of a front grip is mutually exclusive. To those complainer, "Get it grip man! ". I mean the micro clutch grip. It works and it doesn't diminish the retro look.
Awesome
I use this with my often with my Slide. The quick release on the system makes changing the setup a breeze. My hand is pretty big and this fits very snug but the Ellie PD bracket moved the attachment over enough to make extra room for my big hand.
The Clutch Improves All Camera Grips
I've had my clutch for some time now. It's moved from my 5D mark 4 over to my R6 and I love having it on a camera so much that I'll be purchasing an additional one so I can ensure I'll have one on each camera I may be shooting with. What I love about the clutch is that it takes an excellent camera grip and adds a 100% certainty that you won't drop or otherwise lose your grasp on that grip. I love the way the 5D mark 4's larger grip feels in my hand, and the same with the R6 deeper but slimmer grip but the clutch gives me a certainty that I won't accidentally drop my camera. It takes a minute to adapt to having it on the camera, but once you do, it's a phenomenal and inexpensive buy, plus with Peak Design's anchor links, you can still have the option for a normal camera strap. Overall, the system is very well designed and takes any camera strap system and gives it that little extra versatility. On a final note, the clutch also works perfectly with battery grips so a professional on the go can also get some great value out of their gear even when shooting outside a multiple camera professional setting. Great work Peak Design!
Perfect product. Fujifilm X-E2 user.
Awesome fit, feel and finish on this product. The design team at peak design never disappoints and as an industrial designer myself it awesome to see every detail executed so well. This clutch is the perfect solution for using my larger 18-135mm lens on my Fujifilm X-E2. I dont need to use a neck strap when walking around. I am able to relax my fingers and let the weight of the camera and lens create tension on my fingers so it does not slide off. The magnetic tool is super easy to use. I was able to change my battery without stopping on a hike. Truly a must have product for keeping your small camera setup small and portable.
Works as it should.
I haven't bought a proper strap for my new mirrorless yet and wanted some extra security for when I wander down to sunset at night and this seemed like a good solution, and it is. It's well made and just makes me feel more comfortable about carrying the camera loose. I use L brackets for a lot of my work, which this is attached to, so I always have an allen wrench in every bag I own and since they take the same size I'm never without one. One thing I will say is it is difficult to reach the front function wheel on my Z6ii when my hand is in it, even if it's loosed up, but in general it's great for the purpose I bought it for.
