I bought this bag in the summer of 2019 because I was starting to get more into backpacking. I liked how light it was and it felt comfortable when I "tried it on" in the store. I've always liked the bag but I wasn't inspired to write a review until after a recent experience I had while car camping with this bag. I was on a trip with friends many hours away from home and upon arrival at the campsite we realized we forgot one of our tents (dumb, I know)! Luckily, a friend and I were willing to cowboy camp and the skies were going to be clear that night. Still, I was a bit worried because lows were expected to be in the low/mid-30s that night and I had never tested the bag so close to it's limit before. I layered up (base layer top and bottom, synthetic puffy, thick wool socks), spread out my 5.4 r-value inflatable pad (as well as a closed-cell pad underneath to protect my precious NeoAir X-Lite), and hunkered down for the night, expecting to be a bit chilly. When I awoke the next morning, I found that not only had I slept soundly, but I had also been warm all night! Even more amazing, the night had been very dewy and I found the top of my sleeping bag significantly wet (not soaked through but probably only 1/2 to 2/3 of normal loft). I was so impressed! My friend and I dried out our bags over the campfire in the morning and then I spent another night in the near-freezing temps and stayed warm again (despite another dewy night)! My experience that weekend has inspired me to test this bag down into the 20s and so far it has taken me through a 27*F night successfully. So excited to see how far this bag can take me!
I spent time in the redwoods over new year's; nighttime lows were around 35 the first night, 28-32 the second night. Both nights I filled a Nalgene with hot water and stuffed it between my legs, was wearing wool long underwear, wool socks, wool buff, thick fleece layers on both legs and top, thick hat, and vest. The second night I also stuck a bunch of hand and body warmers everywhere. But I still woke up by 4am and started hiking both days because I was too cold. I mean, I definitely was warm enough to not get hypothermia, and the second night was definitely pushing its range, but... I have been comfortable in this bag with temps 42-70.
I initially bought this bag a year ago to minimize my pack weight, save room, and be as warm as I am with my similarly rated synthetic bag. I’m very impressed with the size of the bag and how small it packs down. It has saved me a lot of room and weight. It’s NOT warm at all though. The majority of the nights I’ve been out haven’t been below 50 and I’ve always been cold in it. I have to wear warm clothes on top of being in the bag, and I prefer sleeping in simple base layers. Unfortunate for the price of the bag; I really enjoy every other aspect of it. I’ve ended up buying a liner to accompany my trips if I know it’ll be under 55.
My boyfriend bought me this down filled super lofty sleeping wonder bag for my birthday and I took it on the Northcoast Trail the following week. I absolutely love it! It's easy to compress into a 15 l sack, the zipper is smooth to zip up and down and the down filled cowl neck is super comfy and cradles around my face for extra warmth. The dark colour on the outside was nice as I kept the fly off for star watching and I wasn't visible to others outside walking around my tent. Not much room to move around inside though in case you want to get changed inside your sleeping bag.
This is the best coziest sleeping bag! It packs down super small, way smaller even than the stuff sack they give you, and poofs up so much when you take it out. I've used it in west central Michigan and on the Olympic Peninsula, and was very pleased with its warmth even in relatively damp conditions. Also it appears to weigh essentially nothing, and the zippers are specially made so that they don't get caught when you're zipping it up. I'm a medium sized woman (5'4, ~size 6) and it is roomy and comfortable.
I've had my eye on a down bag for a while and I finally decided to give this one a go. Let me tell you, I don't think I'm ever going back to synthetic. This bag is SO light and packable that it has dramatically cut down on space and weight in my pack. Beyond that, it's incredibly comfortable. I'm a warm sleeper and think this bag will keep me cozy with a liner in fall and spring as well. So far I have only used it in the summer and I am very satisfied. If you're doing anything beyond car camping this bag is well worth the additional cost when compared to a synthetic option.
My boyfriend and I got the men and women version of this bag and we are very happy. They are very light for how warm they are and they compress very small. We just got back from a rainy/snowy spring trip in Bryce canyon where temps dropped down to the low 20s and we were plenty warm with just our base layers on in the bags. At one point we zipped together (which was very easy and quick to do) and stayed just as warm. The hood cinches down well and the draft stop works perfectly. The perfect bag for most occasions!
Purchased on the flash sale and fortunately arrived before an important weekend backpack trip when I wanted to try it out, in preparation for a 9-day trek later this fall where weight will be critical. Lightweight (almost a pound lighter than my Agnes Victoria SL, and WAY easier to stuff). Used 2 nights at about 50 degrees, ended up unzipping it and using like a quilt (wearing a medium weight base layer shirt and pant), worked well (paired with my Exped Downmat). Perceive I would be nice and warm to the 30’s (yet to be tested) in the same base layer and fully zipped in. Fabric is very comfortable, zipper doesn’t snag as easily as other bags. Happy with it so far. If it continues to do well, it will be my go-to backpacking sleeping bag.
I do a lot of backpacking. For many many years to come this will be my bag of choice for the summer, early fall, and late spring. You won't find a better weight to temperature ratio, especially at this price. I'm male and actually bought the regular women's bag... I'm 5"10 and wight 160 pounds. It fits me just right, is warmer than the men's, and is only slightly heavier.
I love this bag! It packs down super tiny, and is shockingly warm for the weight. I used it last night in Michigan's UP, where it was 38 degrees and very damp (aka freezing cold). When I was sitting by the fire, I was wearing long underwear, insulating pants, rainpants, a sweatshirt, down vest, and raincoat, and shivering--and when I got in the bag wearing only thin long underwear, I was perfectly toasty. Highly recommend!!
