Comfortable and stylish bike
I am overall happy with the purchase of this bike. I mostly ride it recreationally but am considering using it for my work commute. What I like about it is that it is stylish, upright, almost commuter ready (with fenders and chainguard), and comfortable. I don't feel like my body is crunched or bent over when I ride it. However, the drawback to the upright geometry is that it is harder to bike on hills. But I still do it. In fact, I don't plan on going too fast on this bike period. I have mixed feelings about the bolted or non-quick release tires and seat post (harder to steal but also harder to adjust or fix a flat). What I flat out don't like are where the bike cage attachments are. You can fit a 16 ounce water bottle there but my steel bottles will not fit. I have also out-fitted my bike with a Planet Bike Eco Rack. Note that the bike does not have the usual seat stay holes to attach the rack. But the Eco Rack does come with adapters; however, I used a different adapter. I have gotten a lot of compliments about this bike and I would overall recommend it with the notes made here.
Worth it!
Great bike. Beautiful and smooth ride. So happy with my purchase.
poorly designed
I have several issues with this bike... 1. It is very frustrating that the kickstand is directly below the pedals, because if you need to move the bike a short distance and don't want to put up the stand OR if you're trying to apply lube to the chain, the pedals inevitably run into the kickstand and become lodged. ALSO, because the kickstand is so far forward, if you have anything heavier than 5 pounds on the rear rack, don't plan on leaving those items in there with the kickstand down--it's too heavy and will fall over. Unlike the Trek versions of the electra bikes, there are no mounting options for a kickstand near the back wheel and the design makes aftermarket kickstands a difficult fit. 2. the double bar on the top make this impossible to put on a rack in a secure fashion without the female bike rack adapter. 3. the pedals aren't great--my feet slip and slide after walking in morning dew. Unfortunately, these issues are enough of a deal breaker that I will be returning the bike and will have to figure something else out.
