MSR  Pika Teapot - 1 Liter

Very light weight and solid quality as I would expect from MSR products. I used it to boil water for pour over coffee on the trail. Big enough to stow some equipment inside to save space in the pack. Lost a star due to clumsy mating of the lid to the pot but not deal breaker.

I live out of my truck for weeks/months at a time. I found this teapot greatly improves my vanlife/truck life. I can cook with one pot while I make tea with the this kettle. Makes enough hot water that two 12oz cups of tea are made. Good to go. Only gripes- the handle gets hotter than I'd like, necessitating using a cloth to hold it about 30% of the time; and the plastic lid is almost useless. Lid does not sit tightly into the kettle and at times falls off while pouring. If it had a better lid I would give it 5 stars. I personally backpack as light as possible and would not carry it into the backcountry. I like less weight on my knees.

I've been using this pretty frequently for several months now and it's perfect *for me*. I'm solo most of the time and the little spout on this is perfect if you usually make dehydrated meals- the spout has greater precision when pouring into your bag or bowl for rehydrating, and it's a great pairing with my aeropress for the morning coffee. I still keep my actual cookpot around for trips I think I'll need to cook *on* the stove, but this is my go-to 90% of the time. It's held up great, MSR deluxe fits inside very nicely. I even take it on early morning day hikes and brew coffee on trail. No complaints.

It only okay. The lid is made of some sort of temperature sensitive plastic so it is a bit melted around the edges from the heat of a camp stove. I would definitely not want to get this thing anywhere near a fire. Also the handle gets really hot despite having it up when I am boiling in it. The plastic coating of the handle also seems to be deteriorating or melting off as well. It is light and it does hold water. I bought it because I needed a very specific diameter pot to heat water in that fit in a specific holder. Originally wanted to give it a 2-star but upped it to 3 as it fundamentally does what it is supposed to. It is unfortunate that MSR hasn’t addressed the longstanding complaints about this pot regarding the plastic parts.

I got this to keep in the trunk of my car to make pour-over coffee with a V-60 when out in the field for winter photography expeditions. In this capacity, this little kettle excels. Very light, and can fit a Pocket Rocket and coffee beans or tea bags inside. For coffee, the spout really impressed me. It pours in a VERY controllable manner. It's basically as precise as a full-sized gooseneck kettle. If gourmet coffee is your thing, you won't be compromising your pour at all with the Pika. This kettle does have a few minor quirks, tough. For starters it technically does have a 1L capacity, but the 1L mark is only a few millimeters below the rim of the lid. A more realistic "working" volume would be 800mL, which is what the part of the kettle where the walls are still straight will hold. The other minor quirk is the lid. It can fall off when you're pouring unless you take a sec to align the MSR logo towards the spout. Lastly, a 110g fuel canister won't fit through the lid. Just FYI. Overall I'm really pleased with the Pika. Sure it has a few quirks, but it's pretty much spot on for my intended use.

I purchased this teapot, using a portion of my REI dividend, upon seeing and handling it at the Olympia REI. The Pika teapot is not for the average hiker, who may pack tightly a medium or large pack, but is near perfect for the day hiker, ultralite enthusiast, or at the campground. Having used it numerous times in the past month I find it adequate. The one thing I would change, is the lid.

I have literally spent decades pouring water out of a pan to make coffee or anything that required hot water while camping. NEVER AGAIN! The spout is perfect for consistent pores, product is light and wait, and water heats quickly. My only regret is that I did not get one decades ago. It’s really that good. Worth every penny.

Picked this up on my way out of town when I realized I didn't have anything to heat up water in my pack. It holds a liter (which seems impossible looking at it). Perfect for a backpacking trip where you are boiling water for coffee & meals.

Excellent… lightweight and sturdy

Bought this to add to my backpacking coffee stash. Have used it on a camping weekend and it was worth every penny.
