Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Runs even larger than I anticipated reading other reviews. I'm between a medium and large for most clothing so I got a medium to be safe but it was still much too large so I had to return for a small. According to the sizing chart, I am definitely not a small (my waist is 32", not 27"), so don't pay attention to the sizing chart, go smaller than you normally would. Also, BEWARE, REI makes you pay return shipping, plus they do not exchange they only refund and you have to purchase again. Because this item was on sale when I purchased it and no longer is, I am paying more than $15 extra because of the sizing discrepancy.
I’ve been looking for a trustworthy rain jacket that I don’t have to mortgage my house for. When I saw this jacket online, I thought it might fit the bill, so I decided to pop into an REI to check it out. While it’s missing some of the bells and whistles of pricier options, like “pit zips”, that’s kind of the point. It’s waterproof, windproof, and made of a seemingly durable material, with minimal branding, all for $50. I wore it out of the store and into a driving rain to walk back to my car, and stayed dry all the way. The next day, a stiff wind didn’t affect me at all. The jacket does run large; I typically wear XL in most clothing, including REI’s products, but I had room to layer a puffy underneath even when sizing down to a large. Size down accordingly.
If you need to be out in anything above a sprinkle, do not depend on this jacket to keep you dry. After about an hour of only light rain this jacket will begin to saturate and you will get damp then wet. The materials seem nice and the cut is pretty good but this jacket is a trap. Spend a bit more money and get yourself something that's actually going to keep you dry. Glad I held onto my receipt!
I love this jacket. Its a good light rain/wind jacket. keeps me warm when working but not too hot. Good project but only lasted 14 months. The fabric has ripped around the buttons at the end of the sleeves.
It says zippered pocket on tag but there is not 1 pocket with a zipper. My wife bought it for me thinking there was. I still like it but mislabeled.
Bought this and a matching one for my fiancée for a mountain climb. It performed well in misty, steady rain initially but was thoroughly soaked through for both of us by the end. Definitely not something you’d want to trust in a torrential downpour but probably a good jacket for walking around in the city. I love though, REI and look forward to seeing what they release/tweak next.
I recently got to test this jacket on a Joshua Tree hiking trip and I’m really impressed. If you need something that’s not to heavy or overly hot this is the jacket for you.
Seems like a good value so far. This is a rather basic item with no frills that makes for an easy, light, rain jacket you can just throw in a pack and be prepared. The shell has a soft, matte finish and feels light. The inner mesh is soft and comfortable, and doesn't bind to clothing. Overall it seems a tad large (for a 'M' on my 5'-11" frame, 40" chest, 31" waist) but this might be normal/preferable if wearing heavier clothing. Otherwise it did not feel "drapey". The waist does have a draw cord, and the sleeves, which seemed a bit long were not too bad allowing for additional movement, and a button on cuff can be snapped on to keep it above the hands. The hood, notorious for feeling like a baggie on cheaper models, fit on my head nicely and didn't drop down over my eyes like others. A draw cord at the neckline helps. The pockets are roomy and feel soft and warm on the inside, but as one reviewer pointed out do not have zippers. They do have overlapping flaps to help keep out rain. There are no inner pockets. I have not put it through a good soaking yet but for light rain it seems to be working fine. I've come to like REI's co-op brand clothing the most because of their simple, no-nonsense performance and value. This is my second co-op rain jacket of a different style, and it too appears to be a winner.
As with just about all REI branded products, the cost benefit ratio cant be beat. This folds/rolls up tightly to take up little space in your baggage. Looks reasonably fashionable, is truly waterproof. For the money, it cant be beat.
Was able to enjoy a northern California rain shower this weekend while camping thanks to this addition to my pack. Light weight, stowes small, and above all BREATHES while under exertion. Highly recommend, especially for the price point.
