Key word: Pull-on

Nice shorts, well made, 5 star fit and finish, as expected from MH but don't overlook, as did I, the description's key word: these shorts are pull-on, IOW there's no zipper which... uh... complicates things when you need to... uh... well...

Built in belt has to go

Got these the other day, and man, I shoulda read the reviews. I'm a giant dude, a 6'4" powerlifter turned climber and I know that most climbing brands don't make things that fit me. But it always seems that MH fits me well. I had to unbuckle the built in belt to get them over my butt, and rethreading the belt just doesn't work in practicality. I wound up grabbing some 3/4" webbing with a quick release buckle out of my pack and spent 20min routing it through the waistline on the shorts and now have a great fitting, stylish and comfortable pair of shorts.

Great shorts, poor belt design

I have a pair of these that are 4 years old that I've beat to death and wanted a new pair. I ended up ordering 2 pair (darker and the olive color). The Olive color had a belt issue that many others mentioned. It ran all the way around to the back of the waistband and shrunk the waist making it more difficult to get on. I had to take the belt completely out of the shorts to make them wearable. As for the darker pair, the belt only attached across the front and fit like my older pair. It seems that between the color choices, you'll get a different belt design, and unfortunately different fit. If you're willing to take the belt out, go with the size you normally wear. Check before hand though to see if the belt goes all the way around or not.

Waist is Extremely Narrow

Definitely created for VERY narrow people. I'm not big (5'7", 160lbs); however, I can barely pull mediums up to my waist because the waistband is very narrow. . . and yes the included "belt" was at its maximum length. Once on, though, these fit great. . . until you need to use the bathroom at which point you have no choice but to squeeze these shorts down to you knees. I would option for shorts that actually have a zippered fly.

The material is fantastic!

Love the fit, like the look of the faux-fly to keep them from looking too casual. The Rock twill is the perfect balance of soft and sturdy. It has a nice soft sheen to it, kind of like sueded cotton. The dive color looks even better in person and I get tons of compliments on these shorts. My only gripe is that the belt is a little long, but it's not really an issue.

Belt size too small

I'm a 32 waist. According to the size chart I 32-34 waist. My hips and butt are small, for my size. At first I thought the pants were too small. Then I realized the belt is too small. With the belt completely loosened the shorts are difficult to get past my hips. The belt could use another 3/4-1 inch or so in length. They are very nice shorts. 5 stars, if the belt fit.

Fixed Belt is too small

Nice shorts, but the fixed belt is way too small, making it very difficult to put these on. Would guess the max belt opening is 4 inches smaller than the waist size you order making it impossible to put them on. I managed to remove the belt and now they fit fine but it is a stupid design. Ordered legnth 9, comes to top of my knee caps (I'm 6'2).

Most Comfortable Shorts I Own

These are easily the most comfortable shorts I own. They are very well built and thought out. I forsee myself living in these this summer. I'm rather tall but I still bought the short length and I consider them to be at the perfect, stylish cut. I don't know why they would make them any longer than 7". Definitely recommend!

Strap too short

These are nice shorts, but the pull straps is cut too short making them hard to put on. Once on they are on, they are fully tightened, almost too much. The last year model the strap was cut too long making it hard to tighten and the strap would hang down to the bottom of the shorts.

Great Camping Shorts

This would be a five star review except for the belt, which is very tight...the dilemma being that the former version of these shorts had a belt that got too loose quickly...I'm curious to see what happens over time, whether this is a solution to that problem or not.
