REI staff helped me select these boots after a long search. These boots have proved to be sturdy, waterproof, and comfortable after several months of fording streams, stomping on snow, gliding on scree, and hopping on boulders. I'm happy to report zero blisters or hot spots throughout my trips. My feet are pretty average - not too wide or narrow; a size 7 in practical any brand fits well. Significant trips with these boots: Mt St Helens (Worm Flows Route), Mt Adams, Loowit Trail (32 mi / 3 day backpack). My only complaint, which would be applicable to a good number of footwear, is the choice of tubular shoelaces that are difficult to tighten / prone to becoming untied. Why not just select flat shoelaces??

DRY ROTTED after three years!

Despite being stored in side during the times when not in use, the bases of both shoes completed dry rotted and separated from the upper sections. They have had minimal hiking due to the fact that we have an elementary aged daughter. The uppers and the tread are remarkable and look hardly worn but the shoes are not repairable or able to be salvaged in any way. I paid way too much money to have the material fail for not apparent reason. It was a manufacturer's poor material choice that is the culprit. REI's costumer service at the flagship store in Denver admitted the failing in the material was not use related but unfortunately since it was just over 3 years from purchase, they would not refund or replace the shoe.

BEST boot ever!

This is my second pair of this style/model boot! I finally had to replace my last ones...they lasted me 15 YEARS! They are wonderful: comfortable, durable, great for all season hiking. They feel sturdy, but also have a great range of motion. Happy hiking! Fits true to size and does well with thick or think socks.
