Loving the bike!
300 miles in I'm really enjoying the bike. I've never had a bike other than a bmx so I don't have much to compare it to. My city is fairly flat, so single speed is mostly all I need, just makes for a good workout going up any hills. Took me a while to get the right seat height and settings, but now everything is fairly comfortable. One thing to note is that the thick slick wheels are slippery with any moisture or gravel, so beginners need to be careful. This bike is really solid at the price point and looks great in the juliet (it's actually all black) colorway. I'd recommend the bike for anyone just getting started that doesn't need anything fancy. Happy riding.
love this
it wont work on the steepest hills but with the low rolling resistance and tight chain the 1 to 2.75 gear ratio doesnt seem harder to ride than my 29 in single speed mountain bike with about a 2/1 ratio. It is new so this will probably change but I have never ridden a bike, even a new one, where I couldnt hear the chain AT ALL. I wouldnt be able to tell by sound whether it was a chain or a belt driving it. I have never ridden a bike where the chain was completely silent in a quiet environment.
Smooth ride
Great bike. Silky smooth ride and tons of style points. It's not a race bike (obviously) and not a touring bike (maybe not so obvious), but if your interested in looking good while cruising around town, then this is a good choice. I get lots of looks when riding it. And like the other reviewer said, the chain is super quiet. Pure's customer service? Well, it stinks. I submitted a repair question to them -- twice -- and was ignored both times. Bad on them. REI, on the other hand, is fantastic. Get the bike, just don't expect any help from Pure if there is a problem.
Tight and fun ride
Have had a few bikes. Ride mostly in an urban environment. This is one of the best bikes I have ever owned. Quiet, rock solid and sexy. Can ride it forward hours. Decided to go completely fixed when I got it, and after some break in time, there is no going back. Simple, light and no-frills set-up. Lastly, REI customer service is a pleasure. They did not hand over the bike until I was completely satisfied. Kudos. Thanks REI.
Best basic Bike.
Best basic bike. It is light, thin, and beautiful. I like how smooth and quiet it is. It is not the fastest bike but it is mainly for everyday use. I can tell this bike is built to last. The design is versatile, you can use this for this bike for cruising in the city or even biking. I love it.
