I chose the Mira 32 because I wanted a hiking specific pack that was spacious enough for long, gear heavy days and hut trips. Pros: - Love the fit! Weight distribution is great even without clipping the hip belt - Fits slender, petite build. I tried 4 other backpacks from different brands that I loved for different reasons, but was so disappointed that smallest hip belt setting was around 27/28 inches. I need 26 inches. I also have a 15 inch torso and the pack fits well. - Well organized and spacious. I like the number of pockets and that they are all built to all be useable even when the main compartment is completely filled. The front compartment is so convenient and I was able to fit a pair of hiking sandals in there with the main compartment full. And even then, I could have stuffed the front stretch pocket with more. This pack feels spacious for a 32L, which is great for what I need. Maybe it's the shape, but I could stuff so much more than in other packs I tried - Separate hydration bladder pocket makes refilling a bladder easier if you have a full backpack. I hate having to unpack a full bag to put it in - Panel loading versus top loader for ease of use - don't have to set it down to get stuff out. I also have a short torso and those end up hoisted high up behind my head - Hipbelt pocket fits iPhone - I got lucky that REI had a limited restock of the blue! Nice color, it's more teal than blue in person and brighter than the stock image - Airspeed suspension is great, it's my second pack of this kind and no squeaking Cons - Not very versatile pack - Seems too bulky and heavy for casual day hikes or summer hikes when you don't need more than jacket/food/water, which is fine because I already have a day pack and bought this to fit a specific need. This would be perfect for a light summer overnight. - Back adjustment took some time. There were multiple rungs and strap length adjustments I tried that all *looked* like they fit me, but the weight distribution felt different for each one. Once dialed in, it's perfect - I don't use the side access on the pockets and wish they were just top access. That being said the pockets are fairly deep past the side access so you can still put in small items if you tuck them down - The suspension is comfortable and really helps in hot and humid weather, but the suspension curve is pretty exaggerated and that makes the weight sit further away from your back. It took some adjustment with the straps / load lifters to get comfortable and also a bit of getting used to even though I have a 15L daypack with this suspension system. I liked how the Gregory Juno 30, which also has a trampoline back, had the weight sit closer to my back though it didn't fit as well overall Overall super excited about this purchase and can't wait to take it on a couple big trips planned! Highly recommend to anyone who needs a large, fully featured pack.
I'm very disappointed with this backpack. Previously I had Mira 34 AG in a nice Bondi Blue color that I used for few years. It was stolen so I had to buy a new one. First of all I don't like the color of the new one. It is so ugly that I don't understand who designed this color especially for women (the bluish color is out of stock but it doesn't look too appealing as well). Besides the color, this backpack is so huge comparing to the older model. It is very wide and loose although it is 32L (the old model was 34L) but it has less pockets than previous one. The upper section is wider than lower section. Also the front packet is made of very stretchy material and it is very loose so I expect it will stretch even more. The same with the side compartments for bottles. They are very big so if you have smaller bottle you can lose it. Also, the hip belt pockets connection with belt is weird and uncomfortable. Previous model had sturdy belt connection. I don't understand why Osprey that always had best backpacks changed the design of something that was very good. And what's going on with the colors? This season all backpacks are in ugly dark colors...
I bought the Osprey Mira 32 Hydration backpack for a hiking trip to Muir Woods and the Redwoods near Half Moon Bay, California. The backpack itself is extremely comfortable and fits well. It has plenty of room for a puffy, rain jacket, first aid kit, camera, and snacks...with room to spare. I wasn't looking for a smaller sized daypack, so this one was perfect for me. The Celestial Charcoal color is a lovely muted purple-toned, dark gray. I had enough room to carry everything I needed. The stow and go trekking pole holders are great. Just remember to mind how you turn if you don't collapse your trekking poles.
I've had my mira for >4 years and it's held up so well! I received this as a gift when I first started getting into hiking. I think it's large for a daypack but its size allowed me to comfortable carry items as I was learning what was essential and non-essential. I typically use a hydration pack but you could easily fit/remove water bottles (like smart water bottle size) into the 2 side pockets. The hip belt pockets are great for chapstick, small pepper spray, mask, knife, etc. I get pretty sweaty and I feel like the mesh back panel actually ventilates. The magnetic piece on the sternum for your bite valve is a simple addition but one of my favorite features. I use this pack for all of my day hikes. It's overkill for short day hikes, but I honestly just use it anyways because it's so comfortable and makes it easy to drink water. My only issue with it is sometimes the sternum strap fits awkwardly. Long story short: Would recommend to someone getting into hiking or someone looking for a larger capacity daypack
I have two major criteria when choosing a pack - it has to be sized for a 14 inch torso, and it has to not have a lid (brain). This pack seemed to check all the boxes, plus it has a rain cover, which I will probably never use as I carry a poncho at all times, but still a nice feature. So, it was sized for me in the store with weight in it and it felt ok so I purchased. My first trip out, my hiking partner was noticing that I kept reaching back to recenter it against my back as it was sliding around my hips no matter what adjustments I made, and throwing me off balance as it swung from side to side. The frame was also jabbing right into my scapula on one side. So I put it on at home and looked from all angles in the mirror and saw that the shoulder straps were also not really touching my shoulders, they were up high. So, I decided to lengthen the torso by one notch. Some improvement but it was still jammed against my scapula. Lengthened it by another notch, sitting the pack even lower on my back. Bingo! It's now my dream pack, it sits snugly on my hips with no lateral motion, and I hardly even notice it's there. So, it you're having problems, play with the torso adjustment and all the straps. Don't rely on the fitting in the store. Wear it out on a real hike, then re-adjust if need be.

This is a GREAT pack for anyone looking to do longer day hikes or one night (maybe two night) treks! It's a little bulky for shorter hikes where youre only going a few miles, so a smaller liter bag would probably be more comfortable for that. I have used this pack many times and its very comfortable on back, hips and shoulder. However, I am short (5'0") and could see this not being comfortable on a taller person because of the waist strap. There are a lot of nice organization pockets that store tons of stuff. Also has a rain cover along with it, which is nice so you dont have to buy one! Overall I would recommend this pack. Great size, great fit, great organization.
I bought this pack specifiacally for this bike packing trip and it was a very valuable piece of equipment. I needed to carry 15-20 lbs of clothing and supplies as well as water and this packed held it all well. It was comfortable and I only had minor neck irritation when I first started out each day and then the pack felt fine again. I noticed that three other members of my group were using Osprey packs, but mine had the frame that allowed decent back ventilation. Nice feature. The only design flaw I found was that the pockets on the waist belt were Hard to close and open with one hand while I was riding. It would be nice also if the outside pouch was big enough to hold a helmet. I definitely feel like this pack was a great purchase.
I hardly ever write reviews, but I’ve put this bag through the wringer and find it to be near perfect. The last mira model had the squeekiest frame. Osprey finally fixed that and added a back that adjusts so easily. The only issues I have are that my cell phone can be squeezed into the hip pockets, but they could’ve been designed with a little better shape so it could fit easier. I also prefer the old style chest clip with the whistle, but oh well. This pack has been super comfortable and functional!
Over the last few years my husband and I recently got into hiking and I quickly realized that I needed a nicer backpack to be able to lug my hiking and photography equipment around. After months of research I came to the Osprey Mira 32 and it was the best purchase I've ever made! This backpack has tons of space that it is very well divided into multiple pockets. I'm a huge fan of the pockets on the hip belt where I can easily put my phone and keys. The frame on it is super comfortable and keeps your back cool when hiking. The big upgrade for me was the water reservoir, which has been awesome while hiking through the Redwoods in Northern California. This Osprey backpack has completely exceeded my expectations and has been great for outdoor adventures. Highly recommended!
