This is a good looking lightweight well ventilated running shoe. Easily the lightest running shoes I have ever owned. The shoe is designed a bit convex. Resting on the ground, the midfoot contacts the ground while the toe and heel are both in the air. Also, the shoe utilizes a "sock design" with all but the top 1/4 of the tongue sewn in. The fit is very good. True to size in length and no slipping in the heal. The shoe is just a bit snug in width at the ball of the foot. This will likely be in issue for those who typically wear a wide width shoe. The feel of the shoe is firm. However, the insole is easily removed to allow for a custom insole. I used insoles for high arched feet successfully. There was no change in the fit of the shoe and the ride softened a bit with my insoles.
This is my fourth pair of of Clouds, so obviously I love these shoes. They are extremely lightweight and comfortable. I took my all-black pair to Paris and my feet held up great day after day of 10-15km walking, without looking like a typical American tourist in bright sneakers. But minus one star due to three caveats: (1) The waffle tread picks up stones on gravelly paths; (2) even the pavement is even the slightest bit wet, the shoes start to squeak; (3) the shoes wear out sooner than other shoes in the same price range. Even so, overall, these shoes are so great that when this pair wears out, I'll buy pair number 5.
I bought this shoe about 8 months ago for running 8-20 milers for marathon training. It only took a few runs for me to figure out that this is NOT a long distance shoe. It's very hard. Given that it's advertised as "medium cushion" I give it a 4/5 since the cushion feels more light than medium to me. I wouldn't run more than 6 miles in it personally. It's great as a cross trainer though because the stiffness makes it great for weight lifting/indoor rowing/casual cycling etc but you can still log a few miles in it. I wouldn't recommend it for long distance running, but I would recommend it as a cross trainer.
I have been running with this shoe for the past few weeks. It is very light weight and has firm heal support. Given the slip on design the firmness of the heal is important. I found the shoe a bit narrow in the toe box compared to previous running shoes. I may require a wider shoe. I would say it get's positive feedback as I was asked by a few friends what shoe is that as the design was catching their eyes. It is also a great shoe for travel as you can easily get them off and on through airport security.
Really great and comfortable shoe. Did not use the extra laces and they are easy to slip on and off. The sole of the shoe is designed with comfort pillows which feel great at first but constantly picks up mediums sized rocks. I recommend these for geology enthusiasts.
These shoes are super comfy but the quality of construction is extremely low - after just a few months (of walking in them - no running ) the sole started to come unglued at the heel and also the inner heel fabric has started totally degrade. One more issue - the unusual tread pattern and depth is very comfortable but picks up many rocks or sticks - super annoying and unlike any shoes I have ever owned so these are only suitable for pavement - around city for very light use. bummer.
These shoes don't even last 200 miles. The soles would wear out at around 50 miles and fabric inside the shoe starts to tear little after.
Out of the box I was immediately excited by the styling, lightness and width of these, especially the inclusion of standard and bungee (my preference) laces. I have wide feet and usually run minimalist shoes, so the first impression was really good for me (despite the heel-to-toe drop). Running: I ran with these on both road and trail and found them to be pretty good on both (around 20 miles total run distance during trial). Initially, I found the arch, particularly on the outside of my foot, to be a little high but this went away after a bit as the shoe fit its self to my foot. The Clouds were responsive on the trails (and didn't grab too many stones with the split sole) as well as stable and grippy on pavement, even when wet (my trail shoes can slide on wet pavement occasionally). They remained comfortable without being "spongy" and worked well for me even with a mid-foot strike. I will be using these for an upcoming distance race and found the Clouds to be a nice upgrade from the current pair of shoes I had been training with. Walking: These shoes arrived just before a trip to Disney so I had the chance to walk A LOT. Over a week, I wore them for 40+ miles walking. This is where the bungee laces were especially great. These shoes are light and comfortable without feeling shoddy and held up great strolling the parks. They are well ventilated and kept my feet cool and comfortable, particularly with the wide toe box that let my foot flex, something many running shoes don't do well. Overall, I am super happy with my Clouds and look forward to many more miles. The combination fo just-enough cushion, lightness, flexibility/stretch, and spaciousness make these a great choice for me as an alternative to my usual minimal shoes.
Looking at photos online I had feared this shoe would be a mushy mess but I was very positively surprised when I got it, the pods are quite firm and the result is a wonderfully responsive ride. It has just the right amount of cushion for longer runs while providing great feedback for shorter faster efforts. The upper is very breathable, toe bumper and welded overlays add stability and just the right amount of protection. The lacing system includes an overlay over the midfoot that really locks it down perfectly. Fit is a bit narrow and my feet are quite wide but given that the upper is very stretchy this hasn't been an issue at all. The elasticized laces are great for casual use but it is best to swap them out for the included regular laces for running. Overall build quality is fantastic, no signs of wear in the initial 100 miles or so. Really enjoying running in these.
I love these shoes. They are some of the most comfortable I have ever worn. BUT, after 2-3 months of everyday casual wear (not running - I only bike these days) there is a hole in the side!
