Perfect replacement for my Syncro 3. Love it!

Pros: -Organization -comfortable -pump holder -built in drainage -new shoulder strap design -raincover (see pic) -lightweight -awesome leakproof 2.5L bladder -4 drainage rivets (backpanel, front shove, raincover pocket, raincover) -better fit and design than last version -sternum magnet for tube -Osprey warranty Minor Con: -helmet lid lock tension strap difficult to get to in zip pocket (see pic) I have the previous Syncro 3 and 15, so I was thrilled to see this perfect size come out. The 3 was too small and the 15 is great for long and/or cold rides. This 5 is my go to now, perfect for most of my mtn bike rides, and short hikes. (Not made for trail running, I've tried). The zip pocket goes all the way down and can fit more than just fits in the little mesh pockets inside. It has awesome features, fits really well and is way lighter than it looks. I forgot it's in when riding. This new refresh looks way cooler too. Highly recommended. Great purchase!!

Best bag for 1-3 hour hikes

Absolutely love how well this feels, fits, and has so much room for customization. I can hike in 118° weather and still have cool water 2 hours into the hike. I've used this several times since purchasing and it's definitely my go to of all my packs. There are lots of points to attach additional gear/small bags on and the straps support excellently. I folded in the waist strap into the rain cover compartment since I don't use it and it fits perfectly. The small elastic loop on the chest strap is great for sunglasses while taking photos or a flashlight. I didn't think I'd like the newest design of the water bladder but it's actually great and takes up less space than the older Osprey bladders. The design is sleek and clean (own the black version)... cannot recommend enough!

Ideal Mountain Bike Pack

Very comfortable pack.I wore this for the first time on a warm day and the raised mesh back kept the pack off my back, keeping me cooler. It's great for longer rides with lots of storage, but never felt heavy even when well loaded. I also wore this for a mountain bike race and the the pack stayed put. I hardly noticed it was there. Only negative is that the bite valve/hose came detached from the sternum strap a couple times and flapped around. It connects with a magnet and when it got hit it came loose, which probably wouldn't have happened with a buckle connection. The pack size is just right, not too big or small for my needs. I plan to get the insulation insert and tube cover to use for skiing this winter. Overall, I'm very happy with the Syncro 5.

A great pack for mtb rides

This is a great for mountain bike rides. There's enough space to store all the typical tools and equipment you would need for a long ride. The storage is a bit cramped, so if you like to carry a lot of stuff it gets tight. The lack of waist pockets make the ease of access to small items a little less idea. I chose this pack principally for the supported mesh frame on the back, I wanted to maximize the airflow over my back, and this pack does that wonderfully! The pack feels very comfortable and stable even when jostling around on fast rough descents.

Best Pack for MTB

It's got everything you need for longer treks. The separate space for the water pouch is nice as well as being able to have easy access to each pouch through large zipper handles that are usable with gloves. It's light and can hold more than enough for an all day ride. It does come with a rain cover which can be helpful or you can always take it out for more storage.

Looks great, sizes are confusing

I selected this 5 Liter pack, thinking it would have 5 L of useful space, in addition to the 2.5 L water bag. But it seems that the water bag takes up half of the advertised 5 Liters. I'll return this and get a similar 10 L pack. The useful space (after filling the water) is about the same as my 2L bum bag I've been using: wallet, keys, phone, gps, 29" bike tube, 2 or 3 clif bars. I'm looking to add a sandwich, some tools and a windbreaker. Other than the size confusion, it looks nice!

Hike/bike with confidence you will be hydrated.

Great hydration pack. Associate at REI recommended I try this as a hiking pack and very happy with it. For me, it fits better and is more comfortable than the labeled hiking hydration packs. Enough accessory storage for the basic safety gear as well. Works great on a bike too.

Suspension feature is unbeatable.

Awesome hydration pack. The fit is good, the suspension keeping it off my back was the main selling point. I purchased one that did not have this feature and was approximately the same size but returned it to try this out and love it. Company has a great warranty policy as well. In retrospect, I would buy a slightly larger one if offered with the suspension feature. I think there was a size up from this. A little more room would be nice even for just a few hours out.

Great Pack

This is a great bag for someone wanting to carry a minimal amount but still wanting a backpack! If you’re familiar with Osprey’s ‘Anti-Gravity’ technology that they use in their backpacking packs then you’ll know how great this bag is. This technology is essentially an external framed section of mesh that keeps the bag off of your back, allowing actual airflow and breathability! This is by far the best feature offered on the market, in my opinion. Before this bag, no matter what the label said, these cooling mesh systems that other brands use do not work and I end up with a sweaty soaked back. My only complaint was the shoulder straps, one side or the other, but never both, would end up crawling it’s way up my shirt and onto my skin during rides, causing it to rub and cause discomfort. Take that with a grain of salt though, I have a very unique body type accompanied with cotton t shirts that might be slightly to big, so it’s definitely probable that my complaint is user error! Typical ride load: full water bladder, multi tool, wallet, phone, tire levers, muc off lube, glasses, and a small sweat towel. After all of that there is still plenty of room for a bike pump, snacks, etc. I’ve even managed to stuff a thick cotton sweatshirt in there!
