Excellent Kit
First, I bought this for a variety of aerobic activities, not just cycling. I use it for half-marathon and marathon workouts on my Concept2 SkiErg and Rower. The bladder size is perfect for those distances. Further, the lightweight, mesh, rolled shoulder straps make it a chafe-free pack for repetitive arm motions, critical on LSD workout sessions. I also used the pack this morning for a 20 mile bicycle ride in 94 degree Florida sunshine. The bladder has a nifty handle that makes it easy to load up on ice and water, much better than my CamelBak hydration packs. Osprey's mesh venting where the hydration pack rests on one's back is great, much like all their other packs. Osprey's magnetic drink tube holder makes life SO much easier when grabbing a quick sip while needing to maintain a steady pace. This is easy while cycling but a crucial feature when on the SkiErg or the rower and you don't have the flexibility to use only one hand to drink regularly. With the magnet, I'm able to grab the drink tube, get a sip or two, and then get the bite valve back into position without looking at it and without having to disrupt my rhythm. There is room for a phone, keys, power bars and other essentials in the accessory pocket. In the main pouch where the bladder fits, you could easily stuff one or two transitional weather items (e.g, warmer gloves, a hat, a pair of tights or a shell for the descent). I like the fact that the pack does NOT have a waistbelt. I'm not riding a DH or freestyle bike where a waistbelt would probably be useful. For those that want to tame the excess shoulder strap (that's been pulled through the buckle), one can easily undo the shoulder straps from the buckles and slip a small O-ring onto the strap and then re-thread the strap back through the buckle.

Very poor user instructions
Nice hydration pack but it comes with virtually no instructions on cleaning it for initial use or disconnecting the tube. As with last Osprey pack I purchased, I had to call customer service, just to understand how to use it. Also, description on REI website does not make it clear that this model does not have the quick disconnect feature.

So Light and holds my equipment

As a cross country rider that likes hydration packs, this is perfect for me, as all I need to hold is tubes, CO2, keys, and multitool. The bladder is the biggest ive used, and the pack is so light that when I'm out of water the pack doesn't feel like it's there. The only thing it needs is waist straps

Does What Its Supposed To Do

I got this pack when I first started biking. 1. It does what its supposed to do very well. 2. I would not get it now. Get this pack if you have a cruiser, a hybrid, any upright seated position, or for going around town - that kind of thing. It has good organization, good capacity, a great magnetic hose holder, and the shoulder straps are a little longer to accomodate your arms reaching. The reason I wouldn't get it now is that I shortly fell in love with biking and upgraded from a Trek DualSport to a Trek Checkpoint AL3 and I am now in a much more forward position. I find that this pack makes my shoulders sore. I have changed to a mounted water bottle and saddle bag set up. I just used a fanny pack today to stash more food for a longer ride and that works pretty well. Just know what kind of activities you will be doing before getting this pack. Also I do still use the pack as a small day pack because I work outside a lot and its the right size for just bringing some water, your keys, some tools, and food.

Good for the money/ Buy the tube connector

It is the perfect size for even 2-3 hr. mountain bike rides or hikes. I wish it had one more zipped pocket, but there is ample room. The only feature that I had to add, that see comes w/ others, is a connector that gives you the ability to disconnect the tube higher up on the bag insert. If you don't add a connector you will have to remove more of the bite tube assembly when freezing the bag. This makes it easier to disconnect at the top of the bag (ease of use if you use a lot). All in all a good purchase. Comfortable as well.

Easy to use hydration pack.

The Osprey Katari 3 is light-weight, easy to clean, and fill. This small back pack fits a big guy.

Just the right size and color

This pack is just the right size for my mountain biking rides of 6 to 15 miles. I love the color. It matches my bike! The water pouch has a slide closure that is easy to use and does not leak. The tubing is just the right length and the mouth piece works easily, never dripping. I am very happy.

Good pack, except for the spout holder

It's a good pack, but not great for moving arms around a lot. The magnetic latch doesn't hold the spout very securely, it comes off easily.

This is my boyfriend's favorite gift

Perfect. My boyfriend consistently noted this is his favorite piece of gear I've bought for him. I have the female version, and he has this one. It's great, comfortable, and the bladder is great quality. Just enough storage to bring essentials, light and comfortable! He is 6'0" and loves the way this pack feels.

Great Hydration Pack

Super well made hydration pack. Anything Osprey is worth it and always quality. Destined smart, nice pockets to use, and the main feature, the hydration part, is awesome. I use this when I’m on long biking trips and it’s more than enough.

Great value and storage

This pack is light, and holds as much as bigger bulkier packs. I'm very pleased with the workmanship and quality.
