Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

After my Summer Guiding in Alaska...
These never failed to disappoint me. Every time I got caught in the rain I got soaked. They must have been a little too big but even when pulled up over my stomach (which is bigger than my waist) they still wouldnt fit. So they were just bigger than they claimed. The drawstring is also pitiful, only pulling from in front of your hips so it hardly makes them tighter at all. The pockets are difficult to use and the closure around my shoes was very hard to keep from riding up- even when I wasn't hoisting them up over my waist. The material may have kept me dry but it's honestly so hard to tell. I was just cold and wet in these.
Light in Weight Heavy in Performance
Day 1: I run a fitness facility and teach boot camp type classes at said facility. I wore these pants to work all day. They breathe well for waterproof pants. Movement is a little limited ( I have large hips and thighs) but nothing like heavier waterproof pants. The hooks at the bottom are GREAT for all day on the trail but catch from time to time if you are simply wearing them around town on a rainy day. You can't have your cake and eat it too I guess. Day 2: Flood warnings in our area... perfect! I walked a little over 2 miles with only an umbrella. Zero water entered my shoes or creeped up the leg of the pants. I even left the pants purposely unhooked at the bottom to see how well they did. I wasn't disappointed. Unfortunately the HEAVY rains weren't due for awhile and my patience got the best of me... hence the video below. It's now 30 minutes after the shower test and my leg is STILL bone dry (as in nothing eventually made it through the pants). These are nice, lightweight, well performing pants. Certainly order a size up if you are layering.
Excellent product
These pants exceeded my expectations! My only complaint is they could be a little more durable. I got them with the intent of climbing ice, however since I’ve gotten a few small holes in them (shocker!), I’ve dubbed them work rain pants (I’m a up rigger) and that’s where they really shined lol.. even with a few holes they’ve kept me dry, and my inner layers warm against winds.. they dry quick and pack up super small in my gear bag! I’ve really come to love these pants, when I originally thought they weren’t really what I wanted. While they weren’t what I bought them for, they’ve worked out amazing and am buying another pair !
Keeps me dry
These pants were roomy, and I wasn't sure if that was because they could be worn on top of existing pants, to stay dry if caught out on the trail in the rain. I opted to wear them without anything underneath for my hike in the rain. I wore these on a few occasions, but the best trial I put these through was when I wore these on a rainy day when I went on a 6 mile hike at my favorite state park. These pants kept me dry for sure. It was constant rain, and if I were going to get wet from the rain, it would have been that day. I will say though, that I was wet inside my pants, from sweat! I know the nature of rain pants is to keep the rain out, but it also results in keeping the skin underneath from breathing. I don't think there's anything they can do about that. I have the same problem with my rain jacket from another brand. Rain clothes are just not breathable. I would recommend these pants for cooler temperatures to keep you dry while out in the elements.
Great pants for hanging out with the penguins
Bought these shell pants for my husband for an Antarctic trip. He chose these after trying them and three other options (Talusphere, Essential and Ranier) on at home. They were the most expensive, but he liked the fit, tm Gore-Tex material and feel (he wore them over ski underwear). They were perfect for trekking on glaciers, ice floes and rocky shore in the very comfortable temperatures (30-35 deg F) we experienced. His only complaint was that the toggle securing the drawstring at the waist did not hold fast and had to be re-cinched when it slipped under pressure.
Good enough for what they are.
Keep in mind that these are a Gore-Tex Paclite material which is a 2 or 2.5 layer construction. That being said, I recently purchased these and took them on a 3 hour hike through constant light/moderate snow and rain. I did get wet, but I didn’t get soaked. I also had a few dry spots. Not the greatest at protecting from wind, as I did feel some breeze make it through in the 25mph wind gusts. They did however dry quick after getting home, maybe in an hour and they are very light, I weighed them at 8.5 ounces. So unless you’re expecting tougher conditions like constant heavy rain or snow for more than 30 minutes at a time, these should suffice. Otherwise I would go with a 3 layer construction for added protection.
Great for rainy days
These gore-tex rain pants worked perfectly on a recent backpacking trip in British Columbia except they kept sliding down. With only a drawstring to hold them tight it was impossible to keep them from sliding down and dragging in the mud. Could use a belt that could be pulled tighter. Next time I wear them I will bring along a set of suspenders.
Great fabric, terrible waist control
I purchased these pants along with the REI GoreTex Stormbolt jacket as replacement for my now 8yr old Marmot raingear that was at the end of it’s life. Just spent 5 days in Northern Maine on a remote fall fly fishing trip, had HEAVY rain & wind for 2 of 5 days and otherwise just lots of damp drizzle. The fabric on the pants provided great water and wind protection, BUT the waist control/drawstring thing??…terrible. There’s just a short elastic cord and a button type clasp that doesn’t hold the elastic cord securely. Needed to wear a separate belt over the pant to keep them up. Also, length was considerably longer than described, so I ended up having to roll them up. REI was great though…took them back no prob, smelling of campfire, dirty, fish blood. Will look for an alternative
Fantastic pants
Got these pants for the PCT. They turned out to be a great buy. In the rain and snow they kept me perfectly dry and much warmer than I expected. I mostly used them as a wind and warmth layer. But their versatility and durability really impressed me. The waist size runs a bit large and the leg length a bit short. But other than that I really loved these pants and used them much more than I expected to. Not as loud when walking as some others I've used in the past.
Premium rain pants
I had been struggling to find a good value in rain pants that I could dual purpose for my bike commute to work and hiking on the weekends. I tried a lot of the sub-$100 rain pants, but it was like putting on crinkly garbage bags on your legs. I'm very happy with these pants - they seem to have an articulated knee, which makes them fit better and seem more premium. The material is also much nicer than the super-crinkly stuff on cheaper pairs. They seem quite weatherproof, and time will tell on durability but I have good experience with Gore-tex membranes holding up. One note on sizing - I'm 5'10, 155lbs and wear 31x30 jeans. The small size for me is perfect and allows me to wear them over jeans while commuting or on their own without being too baggy. Also, for cycling, they have ankle cinches but you might want to buy a velcro cuff to protect them from the chainring, as they are on the baggier side.
