Stylish, comfortable, not durable
I bought them in August 29, 2020, I am in love with how stylish they are, how temperature management is and how the good in snow and wind! Currently wore them 5+ times for intended use(2 full days of winter backpacking, few times for 5+ mile winter trail run, couple days of trekking) if temperature drop in city life, i am wearing them as daily gloves. works well with screen. but big cons is DURABILITY, really sad, also water gets inside after couple of uses through the seams on fingers, so i washed the with Nikwax for Gore tex products in cold water, now its much better and water not getting in, so i can stay dry. 3/5 just because of durability. Thanks for reading
Great for Glacier hiking and climbing
So I love these! I had a little room in the smaller size that I got and I found them to be perfect on a glacier in Iceland. The wind was very strong and I couldn’t feel anything through the gloves. I was moving all the time, and had to carry an ice axe the whole time, and was fine. In fact taking a glove off was rough! I felt these gloves did their job well and the grip was good, even with repelling. I’m not sure way there are bad reviews because the color is off? Or got cold when wet? When using them for what they were built for they were fantastic.they are great for high activity
Excellent choice for HIGH OUTPUT activities.
Great for HIGH OUTPUT activities. These gloves are not warm. Don't buy them if you want just a warm pair of gloves for wearing around camp or for just the sake of keeping warm. Get a pair of smartwool liners for that and put some down mittens overtop. These are great when you are moving. Running, CC Skiing, adventure racing, etc. Windproof, very water resistant and well made. But again, not a high loft insulation glove. It's not made for that. It's made to be "cold" enough to be "warm" enough for high output activities without overheating. I use them primarily for winter running and when I am hiking with fully loaded 50lb pack which usually warms me up quite nicely.
Great Ice Climbing and Warm Ski Touring
These are my go to gloves for all ice and mixed climbing. If I need to grab the rock directly I can, and do it with more confidence than if I had a thicker glove. Many people want to ice climb with thick gloves, but that will actually make you hands colder! You will have to grip tighter and that cuts off blood flow. You will need a second pair of gloves for belaying in order to keep these dry as possible. I will climb longer routes with two pair of the Venta and then the Rush Glove for belaying and rappelling as they are waterproof and more durable. They are also great for warm weather ski touring. Nice to protect my hands from wind and sun.
Good gloves that, for the price, should be great!
Maybe I'm expecting a bit too much from $70 gloves, but I just feel as if these particular gloves should be a lot more in the areas of quality and design. But as is the case with any review, it's purely a subjective interpretation. I recently purchased the updated version -- the ones that apparently doesn't come apart at the seams like my previous iteration did. This current version, while fitting my hands better and holding up to daily use, still doesn't conform to my wrist, nor is there anything in place to keep the gloves from separating (I fixed that with velcro strips) and getting your $70 investment lost. Are these gloves good, yes, but for the $70 price tag and with Arcteryx's logo embroidered on them they should be great.
Great for backpacking and gripping rocks!
I was able to use these for backpacking and summiting a peak. I appreciate the lightweight nature of these gloves so I can keep my pack as light as possible when not wearing. They block the wind really nicely and kept my hands warm, though they are not insulated so I would not consider them "warming" gloves anyways. With that said, in 40 degree weather they worked well and my hands were warm enough. I was able to scramble and grip sharp rocks to summit a peak and they held up well, protected my hands and got no abrasions or tears. Happy with this purchase!
Wishing for more durable product
After a year in the saddle of occasional use am very disappointed in the overall durability of these gloves. The finger pads shred, the stretch does not last at wrist, the seams are torn in multiple places. The windproof is really nice to have, but after only 35 days of use skiing, hiking, biking and paddling am inclined to go to hardware store and find something more durable for 1/4 the price. Am not inclined to send them in for repair, am rather recommending a more solid product desighn. Thanks anyway guys
Very poor quality
Index and thumb tips material lasted a week of driving my car/going to the grocery. Now, after three months, the material starts cutting at seams everywhere. I bought these expansive gloves after many years of deceptions with cheaper light gloves from MEC, TNF, Marmot and Auclair. I hoped that by going with Arc’teryx I would finally keep my pair of running/warm days gloves more then two years. But they are by far the worst I tried in the last 20 years.
Good gloves for fall/winter transition
I was looking for a pair of gloves for winter cycling and came across the Venta. The gloves are slim fit, so it takes a few tugs to get it on. My hands swell a bit when it gets too hot/cold, which makes it more difficult for me to take off and put on the gloves. There's a thin fleece lining, so it's not exceptionally warm. During active use, it performs perfectly for me around 40F. My hands are sweating when it's around 50F and freezing once it's in the 30's and below. Overall, I do like the fit and style of the Venta, but there are some shortcomings. For temperatures 30F and below, I purchased a heavier/insulated gloves from a cycling brand.
Poor quality and cold
I got a pair of these gloves as a gift. They are advertised as being windproof. I found that they are not windproof at all, and my fingers always felt cold in them. Also like other people, the first time I wore the gloves, the cuff tore off. This happened on both gloves. I also found that the gloves are a bit smaller than other brands. The person who gave me the gloves knew this and bought one size larger for me.
