Quality coat for city commuter

I compared the Thermoball Trimclimate and the Thermoball Snow Triclimate. I originally purchased the non-snow version because I live in the city and do not snowboard. While I did like that coat, I ultimately decided to exchange for the Snow version because the liner was thicker and it hit below the hips. This coat is flattering and the size finder on the site was accurate for me. In comparing the 2 coats, this one is much warmer. I wanted a true 3 season coat and I believe this one foots the bill. Some features that I like are the insulated pockets in the shell and the inner pockets of the inner, thermoball coat (which the non-snow version did not have).

Not the Triclimate of yesteryear

I bought this to replace my old Triclimate which I loved but got damaged. This has velcro on the zipper panel and the fabric is not as good as my old jacket. The fit is also different in the same size. Going back sadly.

Warm but defective

I’ve had the jacket now for about a year. Definitely warm and waterproof. However, not the quality that I would expect from North Face or for the price. The main zipper has broken after light wear. Not sure if it’s a fluke or the quality just isn’t there.

Love this jacket! Definitely would purchase again!

I bought this for our upcoming ski trip. I love the jacket! I first bought the regular thermoball Triclimate Jacket but feared it wouldn't be warm enough (I'm from Alabama heading to Big Sky, MT) so I decided to go with the snow version. I'm glad I did as this one seems to be much warmer. I do wish this had the pockets like the other jacket as these are on the front so its very awkward to put your hands in them to warm up. Other than that I love this jacket. I have taken the thermoball liner out and worn each of them solo here in Bama and they are great. The thermoball is very warm and the outer shell makes a great rain jacket.

Way too small

North Face size charts do not reflect actual fit. The shoulders on this coat are so narrow, I couldn't even give myself a hug for fear the coat seams would split. I usually wear a size large in most other brands But I sized up to an XL in this coat for layering but this coat was too small in shoulders, wouldn't fit With just a thin, short sleeve T-shirt underneath the coat. Very disappointed with 2 differemy customer service agents At TNF not being at all helpful selecting a different option. They suggested I go to a North Face store. I do Not recommend this coat If you have normal to broad shoulders.

Horrible

This coat is NOT waterproof. This coat is NOT warm. This coat DID NOT protect me from the wind. I honestly thought that I was going to freeze to death hiking in this coat. I think that I actually went into hypothermic shock while wearing this coat on my hike.

Love this fit

I took this on a hiking trip to California. It worked so great hiking that when it started raining during several wine tasting stops, I wore the shell to keep dry. Well......somewhere in the euphoria of wine drunkeness, I left my amazing shell. I was SO SAD the next day, I just couldn't get over it. So when I got home, I immediately went online and bought it AGAIN. The same, exact coat. Now I have two inner puffy jackets and one shell (sigh). I wasn't whole until I was reunited with this trusty friend.

Love it!!

Using this beautiful coat as an everyday coat to work, as well as on the weekends. When I go skiing this year, will also use it! Not even the direction of the pockets bothered me like other reviews pointed. Only con until now - the hood is big enough to wear with a helmet, so it fits better when I have a beanie on. I am 5'5'' and 116lb. I have long arms and the S size fits me perfectly. I feel cold easily, and can wear it with a base layer and a thick fleece without a bulky feeling.

Love this jacket!!

I have a one year old lab that needs lots of exercise. I was looking for a warm coat that could bear all sorts of elements. My husband has a similar jacket that he has had for years and told me that this was the best jacket ever. I have used it multiple mornings in rain, snow and so far with temperatures in the teens and wind chills in the single digits. The coat does an amazing job at keeping me warm and protecting me from the elements.

Great Jacket - Pockets need work

I live in Nebraska and travel frequently for work. This jacket is heavy enough to keep me warm in blizzards and ice storms but lightweight enough to pack in my carry-on luggage when I travel. I love the fact that you can wear the two jackets separately, depending on the conditions. I can wear the outer shell as a windbreaker in fall/spring. Or just the lining on cooler days. The two come together in a perfect combination for winter! I am 5'2" and 120lbs and the small fits perfectly with enough room to wear a thick sweater underneath and still be comfortable. The only downside is the outer pockets are oriented to be facing up, not slanted like regular jacket pockets. This makes them tough to get into and feels unnatural to put your hands in. Even considering that, I still feel this jacket was worth the price I paid for it. Would definitely recommend!
