The North Face  1996 Retro Nuptse Vest - Men's

Nice Vest, I'm 5'11" 185lbs, large size t shirt, 33" waist. I ordered a Medium and it fits like a vest. not tight & not like a large that is recommended. Main reason for losing one star, those of us that have been buying THF for over 45 years can see the penny pinching cost saving TNF is attempting today. The zipper pulls have gone from a decent pull to a 350 cord to now a ribbon, and now the loop to hang up the vest went from 2 sewing attachments to one. All of these may save a whole quarter in manufacturing per garment? We do notice this.

The exterior appearance is the same as the iconic version from the late 90’s, however the fill level of down is not the same. I would estimate each compartment has roughly 60% of the down fill that the originals did. As someone that has an original one still I can confirm side by side the lack of down in each compartment is glaring. I was very excited to purchase this but have been disappointed by the choice northface made to use less down to save money. Not the same as it used to be, but still looks great.

This down vest is an outstanding vest of great quality and design. However, I couldn’t justify the grossly overpriced cost of it so I returned it to the local REI. I opted for an LLBean down vest for about one-third the price, and am delighted that I did. Additionally, a lot of reviews on the North Face website mentioned the vest was received under conditions of some kind of promotion, while I got none, and I will not pay for someone else’s promotion. Not a big fan of favoritism.

Great big vest that certainly feels great and is really warm. The vest is large and it feels a little bulky, but I tried it on first.

Purchased this for my son who absolutely loved it! Not too long not too short he’s 5’10 155, enough room For a sweatshirt or other layers if needed. I was concerned about being really “puffy” but it’s not. Looking for a warm nice looking vest look no further…you can’t go wrong with NorthFace.

I have had one of these for over a decade and I have been able to clean paint, concrete, and anything I’ve worked with off of it, wash it, and it looks almost new. I just bought my brother one. I expect the same unless they’ve changed their manufacturing too much.

My North Face down vest is warm and includes a water resistant hoodie. It even packs into the right pocket! Worn over layers it is comfortable, lightweight and has good size pockets.

The price is cheaper than Korea and the product is so good. I hope you can also give me a discount on down jumpers.

It is what it says it is. Seems more durable than todays styles , but obviously a bit more bulky.
