I wish I could wear this all the time
I live in Florida so sadly I can't wear this all the time, but if I could, I would. Bought this at an REI in Asheville NC on a road trip and have been in love since. Someone put it down in the clearance section when it wasn't, but I fell in love with it and bought it anyway and I'm SO glad I did. This thing is so cozy for camping, hiking, and keeping you warm on road trips! I'm really considering buying more colors, but the blue and brown is so nice, I love the retro look. This thing feels like a sleeping bag, it's awesome. I was hesitant to pay full price for it but I'm so glad I did. Fits well, a little big but not quite oversized, it's perfect.
TERRIBLE QUALITY
I was really excited to try this jacket out, its very light-weight and SUPER soft. I've had it for about a month now and only worn it a couple times around town and its already falling apart. First I noticed that both the inside and outside were pilling very badly, which seems very odd since I have not put much normal wear on it. Second, I went to wear it on another day and I looked down at the arm cuffs and BOTH had the seams coming undone with holes about two inches long. I really NEVER write negative reviews on products but I feel like this is such poor quality for an item that is at a decent price point.
Best North Face product yet!
I love, love, love this sweatshirt! It's almost too bad I discovered it because I've already had to buy it in several different colors. I have loved North Face brand clothing since growing up and going to their store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, but I live in SoCal and as much as I'd love to be able to wear my thicker fleece more regularly, it's simply too warm much of the winter to do so. That's where the mountain sweatshirt comes in: it's thin enough to keep me from roaring to death, but still super soft and comfortable for our chilly days and evenings. Well done, North Face! This sweatshirt is a winner!
Wanted to love but pilling really badly
I LOVE this North Face mountain sweater! However, I’m probably going to return it! I have had it for less than 3 weeks and have worn it only a couple of times, and just out and about by itself or just with a shell over the top once or twice. I haven’t even washed it yet and it looks like I’ve had it for years because the whole thing has pilled up and not just in areas that get a lot of friction. I usually don’t care about the esthetic of things but having only worn it 4 times, this is disappointing.
Comfy
Soft, comfortable, love the pockets, barely long enough in the torso for me (purchased size small). For reference, I am 5'9", 135 pounds, typically between a size 4 and 6 in pants, with a long torso. It is not uncommon for me to have trouble with shirts being too short. This was long enough, but barely. My arms are average length and the sleeves are a bit short if I want to use the thumb loops, but fine otherwise. It has some room in the torso, but not too billowy. I was happy with that fit and could probably have gone with a medium if I wanted something more loose and roomy.
My new favorite pullover!
Love this!!
Love the sweatshirt, but the fabric...
I love this sweatshirt so much, the color, the fit, it’s super comfy, but the fabric is pilling up like CRAZY. I washed this by itself on cold delicate and it STILL pilled up. Had I not paid so much for it, I’d take a razor to the bunched up lint all over the garment like I usually do. Sad that the fabric is kind of cheap because besides that factor, it’s my favorite jacket.
Great light layer
I was compelled to buy this because I saw it in a store and loved the softness of the fabric. I've been looking for a light technical layer that was not a down jacket or heavy cotton hoodie and this fit the bill. I recently wore it on a camping trip and it was perfect for chilly mornings and evenings. Really the soft fabric is what I love the most about it. I did end up accidentally getting a tiny snag in it so I wouldn't suggest it for anything where you'd need something rugged and durable.
Warm, breathable, and soft. Love it.
I'm usually a small, got this in a small, and it's perfect. (The sizer thing said I'm a medium!? Don't go with the sizer thing, go with your gut!) Love the fig color. The material is so soft and breathable. Another reviewer compared it to a sleeping bag, and that's a good comparison, but they must have much nicer sleeping bags than I do! :) The material is so much better than I was imagining. I was on the fence about buying this but I'm glad I did; it's worth every cent.
Thanks a lot now I have to buy every color
Ok ya done messed up North Face..... now I have to more clever when trying to beat my husband to the mailbox before he sees all these shirts I will have to order now. This is my new favorite shirt! The material is amazing I feel like it was blessed by a textile fairy. It's so soft and cozy! I live in the mountains of Idaho and it stays pretty cool in the summer and freezing in the winter. I can wear this as is or layers. I was initially going to buy the zip up one from last season but last minute I saw these new ones in much nicer colors. My only suggestion would be to make the cuff the same color as the chest shoulder accent color but it's dark grey so it still looks fine. I'm 5'7 160 atheletic and ordered the Xl because I like it loose and sometimes north face runs small. I wore it today and got several compliments. Y'all really did good on this one!!
