So disappointed with this coat

So disappointed and let down by NorthFace. I have always done with NorthFace for my active gear - jackets, backpacks, etc. Never been let down until now. This coat looks awful. It is new - I have been wearing it about one month and the filling keeps coming out and sticking to the coat. It looks terrible and worn out! I thought at first it was just because it was new and the filling was moving and settling, but it hasn't stopped. It has gotten worse. I don't know what's going on, particularly as all these reviews are positive. you can see the white specs in the photos. It looks like when nylon wears out and becomes bally. A bit embarrassed to wear it now actually.

One of my favorite purchases!

This jacket was perfect lightweight for my trip from warm, sunny California, to cold and damp Ireland. It packed well when I didn't need it, it was a great pillow on bus rides/plane rides, and it kept me warm through the whole trip. I layered it with a Marmot waterproof shell for rain resistance, and I had a cotton tank top underneath a lightweight merino wool casual shirt and I never got cold in Ireland.

Lightweight & Stylish

My parents and I went to the store and saw the black jacket with gold accents and ended up ordering it online through the store because they didn't have my size in stock. The process was simple and my jacket got delivered exactly two days after we ordered it. The jacket itself is very lightweight and surprisingly warm despite that. It fits easily into a large purse for when it gets too hot to wear. I'm petite and 5'3", 115 lbs and the S/P size fits me perfectly. I get lots of compliments on the gold splatter design on the inner part of the jacket. +Style Points! I haven't tried to wash it yet so I can't attest to it's integrity after a wash.

Would be perfect except for plus-size issue

Like, I suspect, many plus-sized women, I have been searching for an ultra-light-weight travel jacket. Having ordered and returned several, I really don't think there are any out there. North Face, I bet you could sell a bushel of them. This jacket came recently and I loved the weight, the color and the way it looked. Then I tried it on and was very sad. It fit perfectly in the shoulders, sleeves and arms, but no way would it go around my hips. I don't think I'm a weirdly-shaped plus-sized woman, but you should know that our hips are a little larger than those of a teenage boy. PLEASE think about making some clothing that fits actual people.

Love this jacket

I got this jacket for our daughter and actually can't vouch for how it's going to wear, but the fit is super- the shoulders are a little bigger than they used to be which seems appropriate given that many women who want to wear it are probably of an athletic nature- (thank you North Face)! The jacket is soft and light, and and if it is as warm as advertised it will be perfect. There is some extra room without bulk, and Just in case a little extra warmth is needed we got a vest to wear under it. A bonus is that the jacket folds up into a tiny ball and fits in its own pocket which is great for traveling 28 days in multiple climates with one duffle.

I'm a believer

It took me several weeks to buy this jacket. I 'd tried it on and couldn't believe that something so thin would keep me warm, especially since I am cold all of the the time (even in summer!), so I was reluctant to buy it. I finally decided to buy it and try it for a week and return it if it didn't work out. Well, this one is a keeper! It was 1 degree this morning (and with the wind chill it felt like -20), and with my TNF Denali under my Thermoball I was totally fine. I wouldn't say the jacket makes me toasty warm (I never am though no matter what I'm wearing) but I'm not freezing or even really cold. It definitely blocked the wind, too.

Horrible Quality, Ridiculous Return Policy

I bought this in black and within a few weeks noticed the jacket was pilling on the OUTSIDE. What is weird is that you would think it would be black pills then but alas no they WERE WHITE?!?! It's almost as if they was the insulation sneaking out of it and then pilling. I went to return it to the store and get the more shiny version of the Thermalball as jacket as I have owned one of those for 3+ years with no issues and a vest for 2+ years. I was SHOCKED to find out that NorthFace no longer allows you to return garments that have been worn?!? Instead they send it to their warranty department--WHAT? So are they going to shave it and send it back?!?

GREAT JACKET

Since this jacket arrived I have worn it non-stop. Indoors and outdoors perfect weight. It kept me warm in OC California record setting cold for New Years Day weather and back home in Indiana 20F. I love the sleeves with storm cuffs and the large interior pocket that will hold my water bottle if I choose. Blocks the wind surprisingly well. Nice cut for athletic fit and sleeves nice and long with longer fit through the waist area as well. It stuffs almost anywhere to take along in case weather gets too cool. If you pair with warm scarf and gloves it could work as a 4 season jacket especially as running around town. If want to spend the day outside near zero just add a layer outside/rain/windproof. Voila really warm winter jacket.

Maybe if I lived somewhere warmer...

I bought this jacket thinking it would be lightweight and warm, plus I wouldn't be restricted in movement and overall looking too puffy. The only reason I gave this coat 4 stars is because it's not as warm as I was hoping it would be but I still really like it. I pair it with a fleece zip up underneath and I am still very cold in 35-40 degree weather. The reason I did give this coat four stars though is because I know it's going to be great when the weather starts to warm up (50+) around the beginning of spring. Plus, I also know I am always on the colder side so maybe someone who runs hot will really like this coat in colder weather.

Coat is even better than my high expectations

I wanted a coat for two purposes: for spring and fall in Virginia and for my daughter to take hiking for 30 days in Wyoming in the summer. The latter has been tested yet, but it does seem like it will be perfect- very packable, easy to wear under a rain shell, should keep her warm even if wet. The former has been tested and is just what I hoped for and more- I wanted easy to slip on and off, right warmth for 35-50 degree days, no hood, can wear under a shell if there's going to be a lot of wind or rain, so this is perfect. What I didn't expect is how much I love wearing it - it's just a surprisingly yummy blue and the liner is neat and it's really cozy.
