This jacket is just okay. The fit is weird, as others have mentioned. On me the XS is roomy overall, except that the seam on the forearm where the stitching changes is oddly snug which prevents me from comfortably wearing a sweatshirt (or other mid layer) underneath. The shoulders, chest and upper arms are really roomy on me. I don’t think my forearms are disproportionately large, as this has never been an issue for me with another jacket. I am petite overall and purchased my usual size, XS. I wish I had returned this item right away, because I hardly wear this jacket due to its odd fit. I’ll be replacing it with something else and getting rid of this one.
This a really nice jacket, more tailored than the usual puffer jacket. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviewer that the elbows are tight. I’m a consistent medium in jackets due to my broad shoulders. This fit well everywhere except the elbows. When I bent my arms, it felt too snug. This was with a very thin sweater underneath. When I leaned both arms forward, it felt a little tight across the shoulders but that was less noticeable than the elbow tightness. I bought both colors and it happened with both of them. To be fair, I do have broad shoulders and fairly muscular arms, so this may fit average armed women better than it did me. If it fits them, I think they’ll love the jacket.
While the Patagonia down sweater is my favorite layer for San Francisco’s weather, the Radalie is a bit thicker and functions more like a jacket. The cut defines the waist nicely and consider sizing up, especially if you have broad shoulders. I chose this jacket because the Patagonia insulation isn’t bulky looking and I love the front zippered pocket on the chest. Who wants to share your ‘hand warmer’ pockets with their phone or keys? There is one interior pocket, similar to the Patagonia Down Sweater. The color is a beautiful rust/pink color which is deeper than the photo. I have not used the jacket in the rain yet. Highly recommended for the woman who wants to be purse free while running errands or travel.
This jacket runs really small in the arms. I had read this in previous reviews, but I tried a medium anyway since that is what I always wear in pretty much any other clothing. It was much too tight in the arms and shoulders, so I ordered a large instead (which I've never worn in a jacket). Although the sleeves are too long in the large and it doesn't have the fitted look that I was originally looking for, with a few adjustments I think it will work. I especially like that the bottom of the jacket is a bit longer in the back for extra coverage and flares out just a bit.
Great Fitting Comfortable and Warm
A week after taking the tag off and wearing them around town, I wore these on a long hike (13 miles). The comfort was great for weather ranging from 30-50 degrees on this hike. However, there was a part of the hike where I had my cellphone in the outer breast pocket and climbing up some dry bushes on the side of the mountain and the phone being there caused the fabric to scratch badly. It bothers me tremendously.
I purchased this jacket in the Century Pink and the color is gorgeous in person, not too pink and more neutral. I also got it in my normal Patagonia size of M. I generally wear a 6/S, but Patagonia runs a little small. I tried on the S and it fit fine, but the M was more comfy without being bulky plus hit mid-hip instead of right at my lower waist. I didn’t experience the tight elbow issue at all so maybe it was only a certain batch that was affected. This jacket is nicely tailored and will be perfect for weekends and around the 50s. Love it!
Purchased this and the Nano to see which would be better fit for my teen daughter. Personally, I liked the look of this one, over the Nano, but boy am I glad I ordered two options. The Radalie was just a strange fit. Maybe that's just the trade-off for getting a more tailored look but it didn't seem to have any give to it. Trust the other reviews that describe tight arms and the hem that flares out. I love when clothes have a more defined cut so they don't look so boxy, but there is just something about the weight/type of fabric or something that just doesn't work in this instance.
Liked the jacket in terms of style, weight and usefulness at the change of seasons in Wisconsin. One major problem: I am safely a size small (5'6"; 120 lbs) and the jacket fits me as I would expect...except the sleeves are so tight at the elbow that the tension is too uncomfortable when I bend my arms! Really weird and, unfortunately, a deal-breaker for me.
Got the black jacket in M, although I felt the sizing was a bit off. M fits me perfectly except I’m unable to layer anything other than a thin shirt or sweater underneath. Laying a thicker sweater would restrict me from moving my arms. This is definitely a slim fitting jacket, if you’re looking to layer on thick clothes I’d recommend sizing up 2 sizes. I’m normally a small, but got a medium to add layers but even at a size medium it fits like a small. Overall, good warm jacket for casual wear, light weight and really cute on.
