Very Nice Fit
I am 6’1” tall, 185lbs, athletic build. I purchased a size MEDIUM. A size medium fit me properly in the shoulders, sleeves and torso. I can raise my arms in all directions and the sleeves remain over my wrists. I can raise my arms upward and the hoodie is long enough to still cover my torso. Bottom line upfront it is more of a slim fit because it’s purpose is to wick moisture. That being said the torso runs small. Most of the material is the same as GEN 3 military cold weather waffles. I fully expect this hoodie to be great under any shell, jacket or over a t-shirt.

sizing is big disappointment, it runs large.
big disappointment on fitting, I owe many Arcteryx gears and S size always fits me fine. But Aptin Zip hoodie has serious issue on sizing. I could almost swim in S size of this trail run pull-over. I'm returning it to REI store.

Absolutely amazing piece.

I used it for backpacking in High Tatras Mountain in Slovakia. It is really light and keeps you very comfortable during the colder days. Breathable and warm, fits like a skin. Love the little holes for thumbs at the end of sleeves to keep hands warm.

My Favorite Midlayer

6'2", 190 lbs, athletic, size large. I bought one of these for winter trail running and love it for that purpose, but have found myself using it constantly for other activities. It has become my go to midlayer for ski touring, hiking, biking, resort skiing...etc. This thing is just supremely versatile. I have had mine since early 2020 and wear it just about every day and other than some mild fading, it looks brand new. I frequently pair this layer with a Norvan SL outer layer for ski touring and general mountaineering for an ultralight but weather resistant layering system. I cannot recommend this thing enough, and would love it if Arc'teryx would make it in some more colors!

Perfect for cool weather backpacking

Wore the Aptin while backpacking in cool and sometimes rainy weather in Colorado’s Maroon Bells area. As an outer layer over a lightweight long sleeve polyester crew it kept me from being too chilled or too hot during the hike in. At night I wore it as a next to skin layer, hood up, in my sleeping bag and experienced a warm but not clammy sleep during the cold night. Hiking out during several hours of constant rain I wore the Aptin as a mid layer over a lightweight polyester crew and under a breathable lightweight rain jacket. I never felt overheated, or sweaty, or chilly. This is a useful, versatile, and effective garment.

Love this hoodie!

So I've tried this hoodie out in a number of conditions and it's done remarkably well. Got caught coming down from Lake Blanche at night in a light rain, and it alone (no other top layers) kept me warm and dry. It has enough warmth and breathability for high-output activities like running on a cold morning in the mountains, but then isn't too hot later in the day, and the hood doubles as sun protection in the late morning/early afternoon. It has a slim fit - I'm 6'1" and 175lbs but very slim and the S works just perfectly, although I'm guessing the M would have been fine too. It is a fantastic light-weight option to heavier fleeces/softshells. I think I'll be able to get by in nearly all conditions with this, a light down jacket, and a outer shell. Very versatile, top quality and highly recommended.

Aptin Hoodie

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned Patagonia, Smartwool, North Face, Colombia, and a several other outdoor brands over the years but I can absolutely say Arc'teryx is the best. I intentionally inspected the hoodie for snags and loose threads and could not find a single one. I'll post pictures of the seams below. Everything is pristine and clearly qc'd before being sold. I also love the fit, but I definitely want to note it seems the sizes do run a bit small. I am normally a large, but in this I fit in an XL perfectly. I'm 6'2 220lbs with a 32 inch waist (Athletic Build) for reference. I got this piece to wear as outwear for North Florida, it will be essentially a parka for the mild winters here (lows of 28-30F). The synthetic area on the shoulders is better then I expected too. I assumed it would be similar to the slippery material of say track pants or a typical winter jacket but it's much more supple. It's almost like a mixture between neoprene and that noisy swishy polyester. For example it's comfortable enough to wear indoors as a sweatshirt and not feel like you are wearing a heavy / annoying coat. Overall I would say it's worth the money considering the craftsmanship, warmth and fit. I love the subtle logo and black is usually my go to color. I would highly recommend it!!

This thing is the cat's pajamas...

And not just any kitten pajamas, but pajamas with gerbils driving race cars on them, in space!!! I bought two of these and they are amazing. I really love how versatile they are and the fit and feel is excellent. I use them mainly for hiking in the PNW and it's my go to piece this time of year. I'm 6' 192lbs and the large fits well, if not a bit too long. The only option I'd like to see is this exact piece without a hood so that I could use it for running, cycling, and such. Generally the hood bounces around in the wind if I run in it, but I love the hood for hiking as that isn't an issue. Just make one without a hood also and I'll buy a couple more!

Great multipurpose fleece

I love this fleece for bike commuting or hiking with a pack in windy weather. The windbreaker material on the upper chest and shoulders makes this piece fit into a cool niche in my wardrobe for temperate, windy weather. When biking, it stops wind on the front and lets sweat evaporate out the back. When hiking with a pack, you get enough air movement along your back to not get too sweaty. My biggest gripe is that there is no breast pocket for chapstick or a phone (this is a running piece so I guess it makes sense that you don't want stuff bouncing off your chest). Also, the fit is not supper trim, its decently loose fitting around the sides on my 5'10'' 155 lbs.

Light, Breathable, Warm

I've taken the hoodie on three runs now in 30-35 degree weather. I've worn just a short-sleeved tech shirt underneath, and found that I was able to stay warm, while not sweating excessively. I usually sweat a lot, so I'm glad that this was able to keep my dry while also not leaving me too cold. The chest area has a good wind-breaker, while the other areas are a bit more breezy. The only negative I can find is that if you don't zip up the zipper all the way, the collar does tent to flop around a bit too much.

A ski touring secret weapon

I own a couple of these and have been using them ski touring for the season in the rockies, and holy they are amazing. For uphill travel as a base layer the longer cut means they stay tucked in, the thumb loops are great to keep hands/wrists warmer, and the hood is an extra piece of warmth when needed. Now where this shines is when you're touring in your base layer. The thin soft shell protects and keeps you dry from minor snowfall and brushing against snowy trees, and there's a deep chest zipper if you need to vent. The material also doesn't become itchy if you're sweaty and moving in it. I've got nothing but good things and I hope these don't ever get discontinued.
